I went around to 4 stores today in Washington DC to locate the Little Women CD. Not a single store had it. I was offered the movie soundtrack in one store when I specifically referenced the OBCR. At another store, I asked the sales clerk to look in the back to see if it was still in a box. She asked me if I wanted Rent instead- because apparently Broadway is equivalent to Rent.
Dear God- I live in the Nation's Capitol! Its not like we don't have a vibrant theatre community. Off I go to amazon.com.
I have finished whining.
"Why do you care what people might say? Why try to fit into their design?" (Side Show)
Same problem here in NJ. I got my Spamalot OBCR in Borders, and my Phantom DVD in Target (Better price), but the guy in Borders told me that since the Little Women OBCR is on an indie label, I'd have to get it on line, something I already knew, but I just wanted to put in a request anyway.
Surprisingly, I could always count on finding Cast Recordings I wanted at the Sam Goody in Union Station.
"Noah, someday we'll talk again. But there's things we'll never say. That sorrow deep inside you. It inside me, too. And it never go away. You be okay. You'll learn how to lose things..."
Ordered this and 'Spamalot' from Amazon because the site said they'd arrive day they went on sale (today). According to the site, my order hasn't been shipped yet!!!
Meanwhile, they were both on sale at B&N today but Amazon won't let me cancel my order.
Jerks.

Same here. All the Borders here in So. Cal. seem to have their shipment delayed. The customer service person said that the shipment isn't even in transit, meaning that it will be a while until it reaches the stores. Oh pooh.
I don't know why people order from Amazon.com to save a few bucks, when you are never guaranteed to get your shipment the day the CD is released. Virgin on Market in downtown San Francisco had tons of Little Women and Spamalot CDs. That's where I got mine. LW was on sale too...I think for $11.99. I didn't even look at the prices, just grabbed and paid. I love Spamalot and have listened to about 1/2 of Little Women....which is quite good so far!
"What the hell happened to you? You look like a Make-A-Wish Kid. You know, I just knew you were gonna bring shame on this new family of ours, and it just figures you had to go make yourself over into some heroin-shootin skate board chic on the only day E! could interview you!" - Cherry Cherry, on her daughter Mary Cherry
I always go to Tower on Rockville Pike here in Maryland. They had like 15 copies of Kristin Chenoweth's new album the day it came out. They can sometimes be 3 or 4 bucks more than amazon though.
mine shipped from Barnes and Noble yesterday.......Borders also has them. (online I mean) unsure of the stores. I can get free shipping from Barnes and Noble due to work, so I order most things.
It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story...

Best Buy on E86th/Lex isn't carrying it. They said I can only get it online. The Virgin in Union Sq had it Sunday for $18.99! It's usually on sale for the first few days it's out.
"Some of us have it worse, you know, Dana. Some of us are dating lesbian men. Okay? C'mon."
i know how you feel! I live in a medium size city in Ohio and i haven't found the cd in any store...one told me i could order it and it would be here in a week so i guess i'll have to do that. Updated On: 5/3/05 at 07:54 PM
If you buy CDs from Amazon and just use standard shipping, it will be sent the day of release, just arrive a few days later.
If you want to pay for UPS overnight, then you'd probably get it the day of. I did that for Bernadette's Carnegie Hall CD when it first came out, and I paid through the nose to get it the day it was released.
yeah nowhere in Michigan has Little Women either. Spamalot yes but not LW and when I looked it up on the title sleuth at Borders it just said out of stock. Oh well I might just end up ordering it off of Amazon.

whew i thought i was the only one!! i was so P.O.'d i couldn't have my LITTLE WOMEN CD today!! It wasn't at any stores around here in Northern California (tower records, borders, FYE) AHHH!!! so looks like my friends will pick up a copy for me in NY....
You think that's bad? I go to uni in Tampa and I can never find cast recordings when I want them! It's a bit of a change from when I'm in PA and can go into stores like Best Buy or B&N and get them the day of release because we're so close to NY. Then again, I remember my mom saying something about having trouble finding "Wicked" the day it came out...she wound up going to FYE and paying a fortune for it if I recall....but I also remember finding "Caroline or Change" the day of release at a Best Buy near King of Prussia mall that was a good price. You win some you lose some, I guess.
Down here, however, it takes awhile to get them. When you ask, people just give you weird looks. You never win.
I just pre-order on Amazon. If it makes you feel any better (it probably won't), I pre-ordered both "Spamalot" and "Little Women," but they won't release it to me until NEXT week because I also preordered "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels." I was going to preorder "Spelling Bee," too, however, I can't wait until the end of the month to get my music!!!
I was actually in Best Buy today...and Circuit City...and Walmart. [They're two minutes apart from one another.] I wanted to see who had the best price on "Phantom of the Opera" (2-disc) and "Gilmore Girls Season 3." I wound up getting both at Walmart. I looked out of curiousity, but didn't see either "Spamalot" or "Little Women." I'm so glad that I ordered them online!!
