agreed, RentHead2. I probably shouldn't have said anything, but I was curious.
I will readily admit that I am biased towards Laura.
finohmight, I do understand that not everyone loves everyone. I'm not the kind of person who gets mad at people for having different opinions of people's performances. And just for the record, I am female.
froggy, don't worry, I didn't find you bitchy. You were just stating your opinion.
Me... Laura Benanti? HAHAHA. Good one. No, seriously? I'm fairly certain if I was Laura I'd have noticed by now.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride.
I love you because I know no other way than this.

To be fair, it's really pretty much all vibrato I hate. So the fact that I can even stand to listen to Laura at all despite that just shows how good she is. Or something. Not like she needs my approval or anything, but you know. I love the OBCR.
I randomly just remembered that last night at the end when you start to hear "Grow Old With You" playing from offstage, I totally noticed Fake Imelda Marcos checking out Julia's shoes quite obviously - but the funniest thing was that it was before she'd even said a word, so nobody even realized what she was doing except the people who already knew who she was. Has she always done that, or was she just adding to the insanity of last night's blooperfest?
And also - Tina told us last night when she's back to being a standby she'll be leaving earlier.

Posted: 9/28/06 at 1:05pmOkay I love love love Maddigan. I am going back to the city once more to check her out in this role - tell me she is gonna be ON Saturday night? This will be my fourth time...I want her to kick her shoe off into the audience again. Hysterical!

Posted: 9/28/06 at 1:25pmTina should be on. She hasn't missed a show yet (which is really quite admirable in itself)

Posted: 9/28/06 at 4:23pmWhere is the information that it is about 600K for this show to break even? I'd like to take a look at that. Thanks.
#2605re: Love is what we do! - THE WEDDING SINGER appreciation thread.
Posted: 9/28/06 at 4:25pmBreak even is most CERTAINLY NOT 600,000 when a show like Wicked is around 550,000. I'd put Wedding Singer at 500,000 a week to break even.

Posted: 9/28/06 at 4:42pm$600K seems like a bit much. I agree with Benzy, I think it would be closer to $500K.

I think they mean tleaving earlier as in leaving the theatre earlier. Someone was discussing if Tina does the stagedoor if she's not performing.

"Haaaa yeah, afterwards Tina was like, "Tonight was our blooper show" and then asked if we noticed her knocking over all the dishes. Okay, I think people not even in the theatre noticed, it was that obvious. Plus she was totally cracking up the entire rest of the song.
Ahhhh good times. I wish she could stay on as full-time Julia."
I was waiting for Tina to finally knock over all the dishes. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh indeed!

"Why are some of you so in love with Tina? I've seen her go on a couple of times, and I didn't think she was that fantastic (and this is completely regardless of who she's understudying, so lets not bring Laura into this). I mean, she wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen... but a lot of what she did annoyed me. The way she has Julia speak grates on my nerves. It just doesn't seem... natural? It feels like she's trying way too hard to be cute, and it just comes out irritating (and please, don't use "she's doing it more like Drew Barrymore", because I don't see that either. Wedding Singer is, in fact, one of the few movies in which Drew Barrymore DOESN'T annoy me). And all her singing was flat flat flat flat whenever I've seen her. To her credit, she has improved in that regard, but she still does this annoying thing where she starts a hair flat, then finds her note (did that make any sense? Singers, you know what I'm talking about), or occasionally doesn't as the case may be.
So, what is it that you like? What am I missing?"
Drunky- I'll answer your question. Tina plays the role with HEART. And, you know what they say...you gotta have heart! I've never heard Tina described as "irritating". If you know anything about Tina, she's playing the part REAL DEAL. Trust me, she ain't actin' that much. Her personality is coming out in every aspect of the role. Her take on Sophie in Mamma Mia! was quite similar. The girl with golden hair is the girl next door. And all the boys want to be with the girl next door. I'm just sayin'...

thanks

I agree with the "stop the arguing", but I have to say (and this applies to everyone, not just Tina and Laura):
The person an actor is at the stage door is not necessarily an acurate representation of their personality. So, unless you know them personally outside the capacity if the show and stage door, how can you say "that's how they are in real life"?

i agree, i am sick of seeing it and hearing about it. they are BOTH amazingly talented or they wouldnt be in the show at all. obviously people are going to have their own opinions, and thats just fine, i just dont like seeing fighting about it. its ok to express your opinions, but not in a mean way or anything.

Oh, Tina's that way is in real life. Everyone that's come in contact with her knows that. Haha

What I don't get is what someone is like at the stage door has to do with how good of an actor they are on the stage... maybe it's because I'm older but that is something I have NEVER understood and I see a lot of allusions to it on this board.
Maybe because I'm not much of a stage door girl, but I judge people completely by their performance. And by performance I don't mean how they pose for pictures at the stage door, I mean the part that you pay to see. On the stage. I don't care two twigs if they're pleasant at the stage door or if they don't come out at all, that's their perogative.
This probably isn't an argument for this thread, where very little of any sense at all ever gets said, but there you have it.
ANYHOW, does anyone know for sure which few last performances Cara Cooper is doing before she leaves? (Getting back on an actual topic)
