Haaaa yeah, afterwards Tina was like, "Tonight was our blooper show" and then asked if we noticed her knocking over all the dishes. Okay, I think people not even in the theatre noticed, it was that obvious. Plus she was totally cracking up the entire rest of the song.
Ahhhh good times. I wish she could stay on as full-time Julia.

Just for the record, Eric was out on Sunday also. my friends and I stopped by the theatre after the flea market ot check the board and we were all really confused. Imagine how much more confused we were when we saw Eric walk in about five minutes before call!! Whether or not Kern is there, the swing covers all of Eric's roles and Eric does Mr. T. It seems the director or whomever does not want a swing to go on for Mr. T.
Although I did suggest to Christina Svrich that Cindi Lauper threaten to "open up a can of whoop-ass" instead. :-P

Dude, you know Christina could totally pull that off.
It was SO NICE seeing her as Fake Cyndi Lauper again.

I swear I'm not trying to start anything, I'm just honestly curious.
Why are some of you so in love with Tina? I've seen her go on a couple of times, and I didn't think she was that fantastic (and this is completely regardless of who she's understudying, so lets not bring Laura into this). I mean, she wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen... but a lot of what she did annoyed me. The way she has Julia speak grates on my nerves. It just doesn't seem... natural? It feels like she's trying way too hard to be cute, and it just comes out irritating (and please, don't use "she's doing it more like Drew Barrymore", because I don't see that either. Wedding Singer is, in fact, one of the few movies in which Drew Barrymore DOESN'T annoy me). And all her singing was flat flat flat flat whenever I've seen her. To her credit, she has improved in that regard, but she still does this annoying thing where she starts a hair flat, then finds her note (did that make any sense? Singers, you know what I'm talking about), or occasionally doesn't as the case may be.
So, what is it that you like? What am I missing?

A lot of what she did might have annoyed you, but that doesn't mean the rest of us find it annoying. I don't think that's the most unreasonable idea in the world.
Sort of like how I'm not a fan of Laura's vibrato. Some people love it. It's just not my thing.
People have different opinions. It happens.

That's my thing with her, too.
I absolutely adore Tina's take on the role and honestly? The way she plays Julia IS Tina. If you're able to see her outside of her stagedoor-signing-posing mode and get her to talk? Even seeing her around people who frequent the show... she is a total GOOFBALL. And I absolutely adore it for Julia, it works better to me. :)
Also, everytime I saw her as Julia (which has been 6 times), she didn't sing off-key once. At least not to me and I'm a singer, too - I pick up on that pretty easy.
But as Felicia once said.... opinions are like a**holes, everyone's got one.
Haha.

Bloopers are AWESOME!! Dropped dishes; flubbed lines; ramblings of ronny that cracks the entire cast and ensemble up! :sighs:

Hi All as you can see by my join date I am new to posting. I have been reading the forum ...well...since Constantine joined, you could say I am a fan not a crazed one, well I think not crazed. Well anyway. I bought tickets for an October date for the show. Now I need two more so here is my question. The other two tickets are for students...I hear talk about Rush. Could someone explain that and is that something that can happen on a Sat 8 pm show? I really don't want to pay another $111 for two more tickets since I already spent that on 4. Are there reduced rates at the door for students anyway or should we try Rush for them? It is ok they are old enough to sit by themselves. We are Row J in the Orchestra.
Thank you

Posted: 9/28/06 at 9:32amThere are discount tickets available through some websites. did you do a google search on discount tickets? I'm sure they appreciate that you paid full price, but I bought some at a discount. I do not think we can post links here for those, however, if you pm me I would give you that info. The discounted tix are like $75 total with fees.

Anyone else get the impression that DrunkyMcWasted is the BWW screen name of....Laura Benanti?

Don't be rediculous, I've met "DrunkyMcWasted" and she most certainly isn't Laura Benanti.
Edit - Unless Laura has blonde hair and sits in the wedding singer rush line fairly frequently.
I prefer Laura in the role as well, and I'd be thrilled to be taken for her - accuse me of being Laura! It'd make my librarian existance a little more interesting today.
People certainly do seem to get their panties in a twist easily in this thread, though I have to congratulate you all, it has been entertaining me on my breaks at work for DAYS now!

It feels like she's trying way too hard to be cute,
Haha, but she's not. That's just the way Tina is. She's cute, and she's a total nut. Every once and a while I've noticed some tiny pitch problems, but it's never been anything huge. (This is far from biased, as I love Laura as well.)
Kitty Genovese! I have to ask... how was Sheri?
Sheri was great! She's a great actress, and her voice is pretty amazing.
Although I did suggest to Christina Svrich that Cindi Lauper threaten to "open up a can of whoop-ass" instead. :-P
That would just about make my life. Hahaha.

People have mentioned that the grosses need to break even for WS to stay open. How much does the show have to gross to break even? My guess is it would need less to break even over time as some of the initial costs of putting on a new show would be spread over more performances. Some costs like cast, crew, theater space would stay the same. Any ideas on numbers?
I saw the show Sept. 9th and loved it!

Drunky..I am glad that you asked and I have no problem in giving my honest answer as to why I like Tina in the role of Julia better then Laura
She plays the role with HEART..BOTTOM LINE
..as soon as she sets foot on stage you want to hug her..in regards to her voice ...that is her normal voice so I figure you will not be chatting with Tina on the cell anytime soon...
As to Laura...I always thought she played the role very cold and always thought she looked bored on stage which made me bored half way into Someday!!!
SOMEDAY...we might all come to love both gals...OK MAYBE NOT!!!

froggy2...you did not sound bitchy at all..Drunly gave his oppion of Tina we were giving ours of Laura...do not take back how you feel..for the record..I can not stand the vibrato either...BAD!!!
IN If I Told you "would they matter...." that would...hurts a little...maybe it hurts my ears as much as Tina's speaking voice bugs drunky ears...

Posted: 9/28/06 at 12:50pmI don't want to see this thread turn into a Maddigan versus Benanti debate. I saw them both, and they both have their strengths and by now most people on here know who I prefer but both women are exceptional. I will miss Tina's antics at the stage door!! I am glad to see her back, but I just wish their was room for them both on the stage.

Posted: 9/28/06 at 12:52pmI don't see why you'd miss Tina at the stage door - granted, I'm not a stage door expert or anything but I have been twice - both times Laura was on, both times, Tina came out.
