I could see it...
I could see her in the role.
Speaking of Donna Sheridan, did anyone catch Louise Pitre at The Wedding Singer?

But then again you also saw Chitty crossing the Atlantic and flying over Broadway for years and years to come.

I could see her in the role too... and she does do better in musical movies (even though comparing Mamma Mia to Evita is stupid).
Madonna was only the second musical artist allowed to sample ABBA in one of her songs (Hung Up).
Uh huh
jimnysf has the right idea.
I'll be taking a pass on this.
haha i was waiting for the madonna bashes Zzzzzzzzzzz
Its so obvious why tom hanks etc has thought of her for this role she's a perfect choice.
Did you actually read the thread? Seems to be mostly supportive of the casting choice.
And if you're referring to my post, what I said was that I would prefer Olivia Newton-John. That's not a Madonna-bash - it's a Newton-John preference.
haha.
Interesting...thanks for posting, Steve.

Don't you know that if we don't agree with some of these people, we are bashers? They are the only ones allowed to give their views.
It's okay, jim. I daresay he's not old enough to have a clue as to Ms. Newton-John's body of work.
Olivia and Madonna would be both great for the part.
sorry Rathnait62 its 4.30am here and i diddn't read your post right.
I bow at your feet to be forgiven hehe xx
that would not be too bad actually nor would the Olivia idea either. Madonna would probably have more appeal though
ps im 28 and yes do know miss Newton- John's body of work ,wassn't she a celeb once?
im kidding dont shout at me xx
So many people thought she would be great in EVITA.
Maybe this will involve less acting and more Spandex.
I still ain't going to see it.
She skanks me out.

I totally agree, Rath! Olivia has the ideal voice for Mamma Mia. Pure, beautiful, strong...I can hear it in my head. Loving the idea.
