As much as I love Marc Shaiman's work on stage, I have long admired it on film. Five times he has been nominated for the Oscar but unfortunately has yet to take one home.

Marc, let's say you win one for THE BUCKET LIST (which I have yet to see) or for executive producing HAIRSPRAY...

Where would you put your Oscar?

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

But isn't it so much more fun to suck suck suck up to him on a public forum?

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

I'm quite sure he'll put his Oscar in the same place Henry Krieger put his Oscar.

lol, I was just listening to "Comfort and Joy"

"In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn't last - only in people's memories and in their hearts. That's the beauty and sadness of it. But that's life - beauty and the sadness. And that is why theater is life." Sherie Rene Scott

its a good question!! Your mantle? Your PARENTS mantle? Trophy case in the studio?

When I win my first Tony for lighting design, Im gonna put it in a special case on EITHER my mantle, or my parents... The second one goes where the first one isnt! haaa
