Anyone know why "Another Op'nin'" isn't on iTunes? With the amount of positive attention it's getting, I'm confused why it's not there but most, if not all, the other production numbers are on there. Something about the rights, maybe?
And, Robbie was the first person I thought of when (in NY) the local news started with Sue Simmons not realizing her mic was on...
This alternate universe is so addicting. Watching and knowing what others are saying and doing! (And rushing to this thread to see if it's been posted yet).

So this guy gave up his professional aspirations to stay with a self-centered actress who forgets she has dates with him, dumps him at a moment's notice, and generally treats him as insignificant.
OR...This guy who is being a martyr silently resents his girlfriend for things of which he has not told her or made her aware and uses it against her, willingly opens the door to cheat on her, chickens out, then shows up unannounced out of town, tries to force marriage on her fueled by his own guilt at the precise moment he knows she is most stressed and working overtime on the most important job of her life.
Yeah, I'm familiar with this guy and have VERY little sympathy for him.

I have a theory about this alternate universe and it is this: Karen McPhee is the bridge between our universe and universe of "SMASH." When Uma Thurman caused her to have a catatonic psychotic break at the We Don't Use Peanuts Indian Restaurant, in last week's episode, it was at that moment that she became aware that she is a character on the TV show called "Smash."
It's sort of like "The Truman Show," except Karen is now aware that she is not only herself, but a fictional character. It's not reality TV, like in Truman Show, but a scripted character realizing that's what she is. The hint the creative team gave us was populating the Bollywood number with actors/characters from the show that her character has never met. But McPhee has definitely met them, because she works with them at the same studio. So now she knows that the cameras are watching her, which even though she is fictional and scripted, can not help but influence her character's behavior. As Margaret Mead proved, the presence of an observer changes the activities of the observed. Look for sideways glances in the direction of the camera, and try to notice if Karen lets the other characters know they are all characters, or if she keeps the revelation to herself.
I love Another Openin', Another Show anyway, but this version was just beautiful. One of the best things they've done all season, why can't we have more of that? I liked the little exchange with Tom & Sam on the porch, and the fact that they acknowledged Ellis' lurking when Ivy was listening at Rebecca's dressing room door. The whole "if you bring back Michael Swift, I'm leaving" tantrum was ridiculous and the Derek Rebecca thing is such a cliche but I expected nothing more. I find the cheeseyness a guilty pleasure and we need more 'drunk' Wesley Taylor dancing I think.
I love it. SMASH goes quantum, and Katharine McPhee is the observer. In the finale, as per wave function collapse, she, Ivy and Rebecca will all merge into one absolute wave function - the Ur-Marilyn.
They can't do it right now, though. They're in tech.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I'm looking forward to the scene where permission is being asked.

Well, not everyone feels that way -- and they were in town.
Loved the silly playfullness his brother had them kissing on the porch. A nice, fun way to show the family was ok with his being gay.
I liked the episode a lot -- except for Ellis and Ivy teaming up further. I don't think I'll like ANYTHING that Ellis is a part of.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
I'm so confused doesn't Dev know about Ivy as much as Karen has talked about her.
That said I liked this weeks episode. Borle's opening song was fantastic. I liked seeing the Tech craziness especially under Derek's crazy self lol I can't believe he is cheating on Ivy w/ Rebecca. Is everybody on the show going to sleep together? We're really getting into the soap element aren't we?
Ivy's I'm Going Down was so emotional. You could feel the pain. I loved seeing Ivy J. Blige last night haha.
And Dev...I feel little sympathy for him also. He's not being understand at all as he doesn't understand how strenuous this is on Karen and that putting on a show (especially from scratch) is a long process. He is just thinking about himself and I cringed when he cheated. I knew it was coming and I'm sure he did too. And then that marriage proposal was even more sickening. He needs to grow up.
You know what? I don't blame Debra Messing's character for not wanting Michael Swift back. It's partly her show and she knows him being there wouldn't only complicate things for her but for the whole show. He is basically obsessed with her lol. But I'm glad she came around. I sense more drama on the horizon.
