carrie's almost done, i think it was great...good belting on a pretty song! and good choice....scott's performance was scary and i mean that in the most uncomplimentary way possible. i dont know about randy's comment about "hello young lovers" being boring...i think its nice!

Carries version was so close to the original, not all "jazzed up". She sounded wonderful. Simon's right about the song being ol-fashioned, so is the show!

Uh Constantine's performance made me shudder, possibly because of his camera seduction, but possibly because it gave me deja vu of his performance in Rent.
Why would they not let them use songs from modern musicals? They are really butchering some of these, but I think they might of butchered much of anything.

It's odd; they're limiting them to older musicals, yet they're going to make them pop/jazzy (or country in Carrie's case). it's very different.

commercial time.

the ONE time i decide to watch american idol, it's musical-themed. and i have to run back to the tv, but i just want to say that i hope constantine takes the hints of the judges and goes back to musicals. i've never heard him sing any rent songs, but after hearing that last note i could just picture him belting out one song glory. it's clearly where his nitch is, and he should move to where the water's warm.

Don't sing Barbra. She wasn't so bad, but just DON'T do a song that is related so directly to Barbra.

If these contestant were to have careers as musical theatre performers...As of the performances right now, i think that carrie has the best chance of getting like a "C" tour of Oklahoma (Ado Annie or something)....
