Second Stage must really be hurting financially to only produce one show the season and have to rent out the theatre to outside producers. Hope they can make a comeback next year.
I am so excited this is transferring. This has been my favorite play I've seen all season (ended up seeing it twice at Steppenwolf, loved it even more the second time). I'm really hoping a majority of the cast transfers especially Jon Arthur Hill, who brought me to tears at the end, and Alana Arenas who is a force of nature. New York is not ready for one of the most thrilling, tense, dinner scenes this side of August: Osage County.
It just occurred to me that depending on the timeline of Purple Rain after it opens in Minneapolis in the spring, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins could have two different shows in the same Broadway season.

I love the idea, but the Minneapolis production runs until May 11th making a Broadway transfer this season almost impossible. That said, seeing him have three Broadway production in three consecutive seasons...THAT could be possible!

If I lived in Chicago I would have gone back to see it a second time, but I knew I hadn't seen the last of it after the performance I saw. I hope the whole cast comes to NY and yes, that last speech was a beauty.
