"What's tomorrow HogansHero?"
It's a day in the final stretch of a very busy Tony season when people are not inclined to shift focus to next season. Rule # 1 in publicity is to make sure you have everyone's attention before you say anything important. (the corollary of that rule is that if you have to announce something that is controversial, slide it in when people are not paying attention to you.)
Yeah, this is a weird time to announce, as this season is hitting its peak. It's hard to think of anything that won't be met with a shrug from most people (particularly since this is apparently already a known production).
and if they are announcing a summer opening (because that's when newbie producers get theatres offered to them), always a dicey proposition, this year they will have to contend with an 800 pound gorilla that will surely consume all of the oxygen in the theatre district.
Lynch me if you must, but I really hope it's First Wives Club.
That 800 pound gorilla has already had the buzz for a long time from THIS season that has already consumed the oxygen in the theatre district. Everybody knows its great, and they are well sold in advance already. I doubt the new show will have to contend with Hamilton as we've already been talking about it for months now. Time to breathe some fresh air. Didn't Amazing Grace have positive reviews out of town? I also would be happy with First Wives Club! I really liked the promo and usually enjoy campy shows like that haha. Plus, its always a good time to announce a new musical for me! I don't know about you but the fact that we are getting soooo many musicals in the summer/fall (Hamilton, The Color Purple, Fiddler on the Roof (opening beginning of January), On Your Feet, Allegiance, School of Rock, probably Amazing Grace, probably Carousel, and probably more musicals to be announced for the fall) is very exciting to me!!
Plus, this is probably the best possible time that they could announce it anyway because if they are moving in over the summer, they need to announce soon. Its better to announce now then after the Tony nominations are announced

I am gonna do a first here and AGREE with Phillypinto on her last post! If something is announcing for the summer...what do you want them to do? WAIT?
It's Amazing Grace.
(Also going to say that hell has frozen over and I agree with Philly. If they're going to announce, they need to do it soon.)
yeaaaa bow down bitches ahahahhah

The real question is: will it be a "straight musical" or one of those, you know, homosexual musicals?
It sure would be AMAZING if the next show to GRACE the NEDERLANDER would be A NEW MUSICAL.
Gay musical haha

I was lucky enough to meet him at a function in Stratford, Canada a couple years ago. He was very nice ... kind of reserved and very down to earth.
I think he has a fantastic voice. Over time his voice has seemed to mature and get better and better.
Pinto et al...
Get back to me after you measure the play the story gets tomorrow.
Also, pinto, the reviews were mixed.
the buzz is gonna be out of this world
I wouldn't go that far, but it will give them some time to promote the hell out of it before they open.

It is Amazing Grace and it's coming in this summer. Horrible timing.
It isn't the announcement you're expecting tomorrow, but Roundabout has only one musical scheduled for next season, She Loves Me with Laura Benanti, so another substantial musical announcement is expected.
Maybe they will do Cabaret again if they can get Emma Stone or Gwyneth Paltrow or Reese Witherspoon.

Even though it's almost certainly Amazing Grace, I really hope it's Rebecca. I've been wanting to see it and hear the score in English for a long time.
