Rebecca needs to go into the Broadhurst!
As far as Roundabout goes, the other musical will be off broadway right? The American Airlines has 2 plays booked for next season (Old Times and Noises Off), and Studio 54 has An Act of God for the summer, then Therese Raquin in the fall, and then She Loves Me in the spring.
Waitress should also be announcing their Broadway house soon.

I think it's a little early to announce Waitress' theatre. ART usually waits until at least opening. They haven't even started rehearsals.
Amazing Grace would be an interesting entry due to its nature and general feel. But then again, I haven't been able to make it to the city to see the April onslaught of shows and compare it to the likes of Doctor Zhivago, An American in Paris, or even Finding Neverland. There were definitely some fantastic performances in Chicago, but there was also quite a bit of work needed. However, it was in better shape than Wonderland was in Houston, that's for sure. I would have pegged Amazing Grace for a spring arrival, but you take what you can get I guess.

Much as I would whip myself into a frenzy if it were Rebecca, it won't be.

And it's officially Amazing Grace

The timing of the opening puts it as the first musical of the season as Hamilton will have just started previews.
I hope it does well, but I can't see it making it all the way to the Tonys, and if it does, it will be a struggle.
Chuck Cooper is in this and the Little Shop City Center? He is either not doing Little Shop or missing previews of Amazing Grace, I guess.
This a 33-person cast?! Lord.

I am excited for Amazing Grace but does anybody know why they would open in the summer instead of Fall/Winter. As someone mentioned in an earlier post it will be more difficult to last thru Tony 2016 season! It is same with Hamilton but this show is already in NYC playing to full houses Off Broadway. Just wondering. Thanks for any response!
PS: I love this show in Chicago and will make a trip to NYC to see this!

Hamilton is capitalizing on its incredible word-of-mouth and demand- it already has an extremely sizable advance sale. It's just building on momentum.
Amazing Grace probably just wanted to get to Broadway as quick as possible, but doesn't have even a fraction of the momentum or excitement of Hamilton. This is going to be a harsh, harsh uphill climb for them.
Honestly, I don't know anything about this show. Is it like SCANDALOUS, being all religious and preachy?
Unless there will be a huge overhaul of the show since its time in Chicago, I can’t see this doing well at all on Broadway.
How much do you wanna bet that the producers are gonna try to get a number on this year's Tony Awards for publicity?
This is going to crash and burn.
The preview thread should provide some fun summer reading at least.

omg i didn't know Christopher Gattelli was choreographing
I feel safe assuming this has nothing to do with the 2006 film of the same name except they both feature John Newton? I wasn't very familiar with his life but a cursory glance at his bio on the Wikipedia gives me a sinking feeling this will be more SCANDALOUS than not...

And it was this, the 16th day in month of April in the year of two thousand and fourteen - that the pinto bean admitted to not knowing something. Let it be forever known that this happened.

I thought Tom Hewitt was great in the role and it didn't even occur to me that he was in Doctor Zhivago until just now. Hopefully they find a good replacement.
I did a find-in-page for his name when I first saw the Amazing Grace announcement, and then I saw the audition notice. And I forgot too. And I like him!
33 Cast members!? How the hell are they going to afford a 33 person cast with no names in it? Young and Mackie (no disrespect to their talents) are not even well known to most theatre people. I wish them the best but this is going to be a tough sell.
who knew there was an audience for a show about a hymn.
There really isn't. It was a very tough sell in Chicago despite the zillion TV commercial spots.
It also seems... rather self-sabotaging to write an original score around one of the best-known songs of all time.
And, if I recall from reports from Chicago, the song is the finale, correct?
