I noticed that too. All I saw was Glinda."
It was so ashamed for her, zero trick pony.
Bear's comments about the release schedule are interesting. Here it played last weekend with one showing a night at 7pm at a couple cinemas. It's not anywhere this weekend, but has an afternoon showing at one Vancouver cinema next Wednesday. They went to the trouble of filming this, but didn't really seem to want to give it a wide release.

It should have been done like the Met performances--just one showing on a specific night--or released directly to streaming/Blu-ray.

I saw this last Saturday in NYC and immediately wanted to see it again. At the time the latest showing was for this past Thursday (Dec 11) but by Tuesday I noticed they added more showings up to Dec 18. Fwiw while not completely sold out, the Dec 11 evening showing was probably about 80% full and ambient chatter afterwards seemed to indicate that most people enjoyed it. Both people I went with the first time and another friend who saw it separately all indicated they'd want to see it again, so I'm personally glad that they have continued to put it in more theaters.

Just saw it in Times Square at the AMC. I loved it.

The direction and editing are sh*t, but the performance is still the performance. I couldn't stand the overacting at NYTW, but by the third of fourth time I saw the show, I accepted Gussie (and Krystal's performance) for the creation/artifice she is, as referenced by the line, "one day, I just made myself up, and now I never change."
I kind of 100% agree. I just felt like something was off. I went into my local AMC in Los Angeles, and the audio was bad and for some reason I just felt like the editing was all over the place. It didn't know if it wanted to be Le Mis movie (close ups) or the PBS '87 version of Into The Woods. Was there a live audience? The pro-shoots of like Hamilton, Into The Woods and John Doyle's Company are long gone.

I saw this last night and LOVED it.
Yes, while I agree, the closeups kind of ruin the magic of the staging ... and while I agree, the (intentional, and necessary) overacting of ensemble members becomes insufferable once in closeup ... and while I agree, the editing was quite disorienting at times --- the joy of seeing the acting of Groff and Radcliffe and Mendez in such closeup was extraordinary. Such a wonderful, wonderful trio of performances.
And such a beautiful score (which, at least in the theater I was in, sounded TERRIFIC... the mixing felt top-notch to me, as did Joel Fram's fabulous music direction.)

Yes, there was live audience because there were a couple of times you heard their reaction.

Radcliffe especially really impressed me in the pro shot. I saw it twice on Broadway but never sat too close so never got to see a lot of the nuance, but his reactions here in the close up framing really got to me. Came away even more impressed with his performance
