I wish they’d be clearer about the purpose of the filming, but I understand the logic behind careful phrasing. Yes, they’re filming it for the purpose of creating a proshot; but as we learned with something like Waitress, just having the footage doesn’t mean there’s a distributor. They’ll need to shop it around to find a buyer, and that could happen quickly or they may hold off and submit it to a festival at a later date.
Regardless, I’m glad there’s confirmation it’s being captured. It’s a genuinely excellent production, and it deserves this kind of treatment.

Case in point: Nick Jonas will probably be back on Broadway before the Jersey Boys proshot he starred in will be released.
I forgot that even happened. Or the Aladdin pro shot we'll never see.
At least Radicalmedia actually seems to have a decent track record of getting proshots distributed.

My wife, who loves Jersey Boys without apology, still asks about that elusive pro-shot.
Yeah, I am glad this production of Merrily is being filmed - but I will wait and see.

I saw the Menier Chocolate Factory pro-shot several years ago, and I thought it was a very solid production. Something about this cast, though, begs to be seen by the world. I would happily pay to see this in movie theaters if it finds a distributor.

'Merrily' the cameras roll along as Jonathan Groff gets a mid-show ovation

Agree. I also am inclined to think that Radcliffe makes this a more viable piece to be sold to an appletv or hbo.

Oh God please not Apple.
We want people to be able to actually see it, for Pete's sake.

And I am assuming the company producing this would like to make some money. I'm happy wherever it turns up.
They were on fire last night. I hadn't seen the show since October, stunning how much it had grown!
The applause on the first song was AMAZING! Each actor who entered the stage received an applause! Very happy for them!
Even though the chemistry amongst the trio cast are a lot stronger now, I was more emotional when I saw them the first time at NYTW off-broadway.
With this Merrily pro-shot, hopefully they’ll find a distributor before the other Merrily movie comes out.

They can always subscribe for a month. Apple does not have a huge inventory, but they actually have quite a few shows that are very good.
Groff pretty much singlehandedly made the “Spring Awakening” reunion happen, including finding funding and a TV partner.
Are we really debating whether distribution would be a challenge for a project with Daniel Radcliffe And His Tony, the day after somebody paid thousands of dollars for a box of Sondheim’s pencils?

So what are the odds that all 3 leads are in this Saturday matinee (when I see it)? If the filming days are before then, would some call out for the next matinee?

Lindsay was out for the Wednesday evening show, but filming expected is expected to continue Thursday and Friday. Likely to be out for at least one of the Saturday shows.
Please remember she is several months pregnant (~7 months). I think it's a guarantee all three leads will be there Thursday and Friday.
I wouldn't be surprised if she took Saturday off to rest and come back Sunday but who knows.
The filming continued tonight.

The Linklater feature film of ''Merrily'' is reportedly being shot over 20 years, so it might not even be released until 2039.
In an interview with Variety last year, Ben Platt, who's playing Charley, said: “We shot the first sequence. The film is structured that it’s nine different sequences over 18 years, so we’ll see how we do. We’ve done the first one and the next one is coming this year. It’s wonderful.”
It was a joke, Wayman .

That had to be costly.

I'll take it just to erase half those American accents from the current pro-shot out of my mind. I'll never recover.
