If Richards is producing this, I'm guessing he has some good names lined up. I'm always happy to see a well done production of this one.
SJP & Broderick?
Interesting it's been announced without any cast or creatives.

It'll be $821 per ticket, please.
I’m very curious if they’ll cast this “age appropriate” to the characters or go 30 years too old like has been done lately.

They're OK, but please: no.
Would be fun to see Cate Blanchett do this.

What's the couples age supposed to be according to the source material? I'm not familiar with this play.
Would love to see John Krasinski/Emily Blunt or even Kirsten Dunst/Jesse Plemons on stage one day
I think they're no more than in their mid 40's.
Andrew Scott please. He was beyond brilliant in "Present Laughter".

If we are to believe AI Overview. :)
In Noel Coward's play "Private Lives," the main couple, Elyot and Amanda, are in their early to mid-thirties.
Well the last Broadway production with Kim Cattrall, she was in her mid 50s and if I remember correctly, I thought she was great.

My first thought.
An Andrew Scott/Phoebe Waller-Bridge reunion in this would be delectable. Add Rory Kinnear as Victor and Aimee Lou Wood as Sybil and I'd go every night.

Elyot is described in the script as being about 30. Amanda's age isn't listed.
For what it's worth, in the original Broadway cast, Noel Coward himself was 32 when he played Elyot against 33-year-old Gertrude Lawrence's Amanda.
I think Maggie Smith was around 40 when she did it and then Joan Collins around 60 so they’ve totally run the gamut on ages for these characters.
Andrew Scott is genius.
Can we throw in Paul Mescal (well, maybe not - but a girl can dream)
The characters read more mature in this than a contemporary play. Actual age doesn't make a huge difference.
Saw this with Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and John Cullum back in the 80's. They were older than the character descriptions but it worked because of the real life relationship between Burton and Taylor. I remember leaving the theater wondering how the play would be with actors who did not have their history because it is a funny play.
When it was written, people could be on a second marriage at 30; whereas today at 30 someone is still living with their parents and just doing hookups when they borrow their mom's car.

The last production I saw last year in London last year starred two actors in their 70's (who were great) but did seem too old for it, which is just where my head was at thinking about ages for a new revival.
