Yet you waste no time putting down the "contrarians." Why do you care? How does it impact you, or matter if someone else wishes to express discontent for HAMILTON?
this is probably how many people feel each year that a show is huge and sweeps, and also is a cultural phenomenon / theatrical milestone. I'm sure many people complained about A Chorus Line. it's pretty different from most musicals before it. we can all move on each loving it or hating it or feeling indifferent toward it in our own way.

Watched the show On Demand this morning. A very enjoyable evening. Honestly, I was just not in the mood to watch Hamiton win almost everything but it was a really good show. My favorite moment was Cordens Dreamgirls/Gypsy breakdown. I thought that was brilliant. Meuller's performance blew me away. And even at the Tony's Erivo got a standing O after singing only the end of the song. I was disappointed with some of the winners but it is what it is. Shufflin may not have won choreography but the dances their butts off and sold that show well. I was honestly transported back to the late 60's early 70's when they were performing when most shows we're like this. Just pure talent. On Your Feet was another favorite performance and now I want to see the show.
So all in all a great show. Corden needs to come back to host. He was perfect. Enjoyed him more than Neil actually. JMO
So get rid of the "well" (whether or not you intended it to sound that dismissive and excuse-giving) and let's fix it!
I was only pointing out that it isn't just Broadway that has a long way to go. And it's not just Asian Americans that are underrepresented. I was responding to a comment that sounded quite specific. By comparison to the other media I mentioned, Broadway is generally more progressive. But l'll get right on it and have it fixed in a jiffy!

I absolutely agree that it's not just Asian Americans that are underrepresented, particularly since I am talking about people of East Asian heritage and obviously I am not trying to be exclusionary. That's why I discussed it from a personal perspective and also added the note that I think Broadway is on its way. I actually think Broadway has the shortest way to go!
The work on stage this season and the Tony Awards have already put the Oscars and Hollywood to shame. It's highly likely that Broadway will be the example and show that authentic stories and diverse casting can be viable, commercial successes that engage a wide and/or untapped demographic.
I loved the show but I wish they could have had a finale that included ALL of the performers from all of the musicals nominated, or at least those who wanted to participate, and not just Hamilton. Hamilton's awesome but I didn't think we needed to see it showcased yet again and the other shows ignored as if they didn't matter.
If I'm not mistaken, this is the first time that I didn't see either Colt Prattes or Charlie Williams as part of the Tonys dancers.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
sorry, didn't see that until now. after rereading my post, I regret my choice of words and agree that Asians are under-represented, which is made obvious by the fact there were only two shows that featured them heavily. I apologize for any offense, I was being a little snarky but I realize now it was inappropriate.
