Which, you know, implies they do care. I don't have a desire to see a couple musicals that have been on the show but I don't feel the need to tell everyone. Hamilton is very popular so the contrarians have to come out to let everyone know there against the grain"
Give it a rest. I have been told over and over and over again how much I should see Hamilton. I have no desire to BUT as I said I am glad people are loving it and it's getting butts into seats."
Sounds like you need to give it a rest.

Yeah someone in this thread refuses to use the name of the show and muted the performances on principle but I'm way off base
I think that James Corden was an effective host. He was able to keep us entertained with his amusing segments. The initial segment was respectful and nicely done.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
James Corden did a great job hosting. He had just the right amount of hold on the show--I didn't feel like he was talking just to talk. He felt genuine. Truly, we need him back on Broadway.
The winners are a surprise to no one, but I found it very enjoyable. And Cynthia! Does she ever not blow the roof off? Wonderful performance and speech from her.
Everyone has the right to like or not like any given show Hamilton included, it's the unnecessary rudeness and pettiness I have a problem with...and most of them probably haven't even seen the show. They're just being contrary to be contrary and their coming off as jealous, childish, petty and miserable.
That was amazing! Not only was James Corden entertaining (bring him back next year, please), but all of those performances were wonderful! I'm very happy for the cast and crew of Hamilton for their wins, and I loved their performance! I was a little disappointed at the lack of The Schuyler Sisters, but I was estatic when they performed at the end of the broadcast!!
Also, CYNTHIA ERIVO!!! She is so talented, and that standing ovation was earned from her first note!
I thought it was a really entertaining show, overall. The Hamilton mentions did become excessive as the night went on, but I can't fault any of its wins. And how lovely to see 4 black actors win the musical acting awards?
Thrilled especially for The Humans (and Reed and Jayne!), Ivo van Hove, and Cynthia Erivo.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
Was an enjoyable night. I definitely preferred The Schuyler Sisters at the end from Hamilton. It is one of my favorite tracks from the cast recording. I am more interested in The Color Purple now. I thought all of the ladies were fantastic in their performance. And I would go back to see School of Rock, Waitress, She Loves Me, and Shuffle Along.
James Cordon was a great host. Nothing insane and over the top or very stereotypical and I liked that. Though I did laugh about Trump starring in The Book of Moron.

What made the Hamilton winners different then other Tony winners? How were they specifically "self absorbed" as opposed to everyone else who gave a winning speech other than the aforementioned Langella?

I didn't notice the absence of gay jokes during the broadcast, but it does stick out watching afterwards. I wonder if there was a "gay bit" cut at the last minute and replaced with the carpool karaoke segment?
Thrilled for Cynthia and the cast of Color Purple.
Thrilled for the Hamilton team.
I personally was very affected by the choice to lose the prop guns in the Hamilton piece. At the freeze frame, I literally just said, "wow" out loud. Think it was a very classy choice on the team's part.
Thought the Spring Awakening performance was a visual mess (this may have been more the camer'a doing) but liked that the lyrics weren't censored this time around.
The Color Purple's performance was thrilling.
Loved the opening number.
Loved the focus and celebration of diversity.
Wish the design categories would get more recognition overall.
I watched the show at 54 below and what a fun evening! Got to hear Lesli Margherita sing which is such a treat. And as for the telecast, I thought James Cordon was wonderful. Overall no real big surprises for me. I was THRILLED to see Lealie win as his performance is one of my favorites ever. I think Miranda is great but to me his performance is not what makes the show, although he deserves all the accolades he has been given for his creative efforts. I think Leslie's performance transforms the show and I am thrilled for him.
My big worry is Bright Star. I was rooting so hard for Cusack to be the one upset of the evening, although I certainly can't fault the voters for choosing Erivo, especially after the broadcast reminded me of how amazing she was. But I just don't know that their performance is going to bring people to the show. I just took my parents to the show today and they LOVED it--both said it was among their favorites in a long time. After the Tonys performance my mom said she wished they hadn't done that song, while my dad thought it was perfect. (But he loves bluegrass.). Anyway I don't know that it is going to change the minds of those people who say "I don't know if bluegrass is my thing." I don't think you need to love bluegrass to like the musical and I think there are other songs they could've chosen. (If you're one of those people who was waiting to see the Tony performance to decide whether to see this, I would encourage you to give it a chance.)
Unpopular opinion: Jessie Mueller has horrible annunciation. I couldn't understand the lyrics at all. And I understood Guns and Ships the first time I heard it at the Public. I thought it was an affectation she did for Beautiful, but apparently not.
Also the sound on the Spring Awakening performance was awful. Did they mic the ASL characters by accident and not the singing characters?
Sad no love for Eclipsed except costumes.
Thrilled for the musical acting winners, especially Leslie.
