I’m not so sure about Brandon. I’m one of the mods of that site and I feel like it was an error (he went on on JULY 2nd) and I haven’t seen him post the date on his channel. He’s my last cover to see.

He just posted it. 7:30 tonight. Someone must have had the inside scoop.

I saw that too. YAY! I get to finish all my covers AND see the first triple cover performance. (Gerianne and Sam are also on tonight)

How Ian Fleming and His Spy Scheme Inspired a Broadway Show

Fourth Broadway extension announced - now running through March 15.
General onsale begins October 28, presale October 27 for those on MINCEMEAT's mailing list.
They seem to have found a consistent sweet spot for the grosses (regularly between 600-700, sometimes higher or lower). They may see an opportunity in trying to stay open at a time when there are very few new musicals on Broadway
What’s their running cost with waivers? 550-625?

This seems like an extension with the original cast. Might they extend through next summer with a new cast?

It’s entirely possible. The numbers aren’t affected when any one actor is out and the standbys are unilaterally great, so as long as they can cast people who can handle the frenetic pace and also have a convincing English accent, the use of American actors to extend should be fine.
With their respectable weekly attendance, glad to see that this show has extended for a sixth time. Now running through July 5th, this is the Golden Theatre's longest running show since Avenue Q. God, that's brilliant!

I can't wait for this show to get to Sydney.
The original cast will depart the Broadway company on February 22. Replacements to be announced later

David Cumming will also be on vacation from January 11th to the 19th per his Instagram.
I’m actually glad to see that not only have they been able to extend multiple times, but against all odds (not being a “starry” show), are able to move on to a replacement cast.
It seems sensible to just promote the understudies since each of them have a track that is very much “lived in” based on how much they’ve gone on, though I wonder if any of them are leaving as well.
Personally, if they promote any of them, Gerianne and Jessi as Montagu and Jean-Leslie are the ones I’d want to bump. To move up the rest, Amanda would be Bevan, Brandon as Charles, and Sam as Hester,
Side note: Tickets for that performance are FLYING. I went to get one and I got bumped three times when selecting seats because they went into someone else’s cart

Lift your hearts to the horizon
Leave your fears upon the shore
But jeez, BWW -- could you have worded the article headline any worse?! The main headline and link read "OPERATION MINCEMEAT to Depart Broadway Production In February" -- if you read it quickly, it seems to say something quite different. Only when you click through does it add the germaine "Original Cast" to the headline.
I'd assume it'll be American actors replacing everyone?

I fell in love with Operation Mincemeat last year via the cast recording and then watching their performance at the Oliviers after I started to do a deep dive into all things Operation Mincemeat.
When it was announced they were coming to Australia I was very excited and asked my bestie if she would come too after playing my fave song , Useful, to her in the car. She said yes as a friend had seen it in London and enjoyed it.
Funnily enough, my bestie and I were in London in October 2024, we had both been travelling separately in Europe and the UK and met up in London but the only show we went to see was ABBA Voyage, being young girls of a certain age in the mid 70s, as we were only there for a few days. If I had discovered OM earlier I would have made an effort to go then.
Anyway, I was checking out the tour site again today after seeing the announcement the original cast was leaving Broadway in February and still staying announcement coming soon.
My question has always been, would the original cast tour Australia and New Zealand after they finish on Broadway or will they cast a local cast like most shows do? I will happily go even with a local cast but i would be so excited if Natasha, Jak, Claire-Marie, Zoe and David came here.

Per their marketing email this morning:
Our new Broadway recruits enter active duty from February 24! And… HOT DOG! They’re all American! Their identities will remain confidential for the time being, but watch this space for more intel on the incoming recruits…

According to Jessi Kirtley’s Instagram channel, tonight is the first QUADRUPLE cover. Tash is the only regular cast member on.
Seems like it will be:
- Brandon (Charles all week while David is on vacation)
- Sam (Hester)
- Jessi (Jean-Leslie)
- Amanda (Bevan)
Some people were confused last night since 80% of the listed cast was out, because as of yesterday equity has stopped requiring theaters to provide understudy slips. Most people will stay since they already came to the theater, paid for parking, dinner, etc. I think a lot of people completely miss the board in the lobby and most people aren't even going to notice the QR code.
Understudies.org is pretty invaluable and I hope they come back soon.
Saw Brandon last week and he was fantastic! The original four were also on and equally great. Was a little worried that it would show in their performances (and their voices) that they had been doing the show for several years, but not the case. The cast and the show are such a treat.
Any word on replacement cast?

Gerianne mentioned in her Instagram story that last night was the first night that they changed over to the QR code. That first night is always going to be rocky and messy (I was there for CHESS’ rollout - hence why I started the Death of the Understudy Slip thread).
I’d like to know when U/S website comes back too. I was made one of the moderators back in July and I don’t even know what’s happening. I was actually mid-post one day when it was taken offline
