I was waiting to be buzzed in the backstage door to meet up with Jakk and I chatted with her as she was heading out but she told me she'd be staying on as Montagu.

So it seems they are bringing in new slate of understudies, and promoting the five current ones to lead?
Posted: 2/12/26 at 12:51am
if rumors are correct, the last two cast members, presumedly announced tomorrow and friday, will be newcomers to the production.

FOURTH NEW CASTING ANNOUNCEMENT!
Jeff Kready will be joining the cast and taking over the role of Hester from Jak Malone.

Kready is certainly odd casting for this role--which could be great, dont get me wrong, but I am surprised they chose someone as traditionally handsome All-American here. I saw Kready as (a very boring) Gatsby two years ago--he can certainly charm and sing, so I am genuinely curious to see how he fares here.
Given that Gerianne Perez has gone on for Montagu so many times (and was solid in the role when I saw her this summer) I am surprised she isnt taking over, but we will find out if the Knitel rumor is true tomorrow I guess.

I think I saw the understudy for the Hester rope when I saw this in November. Why didn't they promote them?
Posted: 2/13/26 at 7:25am
It wouldn’t be sensible to promote all of the understudies since you need somebody who can be ready to jump on and cover, and having a whole new slate of understudies who likely haven’t rehearsed yet imperils the show.
It seems like they saw Gerianne and Sam as the two most valuable understudies for the multiple tracks they cover and want to keep them as such since they are ready to go. Assuming both are staying on, I can’t imagine it also doesn’t come with some sort of pay bump.

Thanks for the explanation re understudies - makes sense
Posted: 2/13/26 at 10:48am
Yes, thank you for the explanation. I was wondering too, since it seemed like a slap in the face the two who weren't promoted (and seeing that new cast photo still kind of makes me sad). But I see from the Mincemeat wiki (assuming it's accurate) that the same thing happened on the West End with the second cast (two were promoted, two remained understudies, one later moved up too) so I guess it's how it's done and does make a certain amount of sense.

Yeah. Geri Allen on the West End is basically their super cover - she’s been with the show since it opened in London and she’s played, I believe, all the female roles. I believe Gerianne has played all three roles as well, and so she might be the new Jill-of-all-trades.

The new understudies announced today are Lexi Rabadi (SWEENEY TODD), Allison Guinn (TAMMY FAYE), and Robert Ariza (Deaf West SPRING AWAKENING).

I think people can also specifically audition to be understudies. They don't always want to take over the role full time. It's not a slap in the face.

Fairly certain Gerianne has not gone on for Jean-Leslie.

I looked at the spreadsheet for Bingo (which stopped updates around September), the Playbill site, and the Understudies site (which has a gap from mid-December to last week). It appears you are probably correct. (I may have confused Amanda doing a Jean debut).
In either case, I would anticipate Gerianne getting a crack at Jean-Leslie with the new cast if Jessi were to call out before the understudies get up to speed.

Any new discount code for this? I don’t get a email from them yesterday.
Posted: 2/19/26 at 10:45pm
For those of you going the next three days, the whole cast is expected to be in for Saturday and Sunday (barring exigent circumstance).
Tomorrow (Friday 2/20), Jak and Zoe are being covered by Sam and Amanda.

there was so much drama and handwringing over the late Jan snow storm (much of it justified) but i havent heard a word about plans for Broadway on Sunday when a much bigger storm is expected to wallop the City. Will the evening show for Mincemeat go on?
If these forecasts are correct, it would be insane to release 1000 ppl into the snow Sunday night.

The real gag will be is if the matinee goes on and the evening is cancelled; I say as someone who switched their tickets.

It wouldn't surprise me if they kept both shows tomorrow just to avoid refunds.
