We all love a good bear back story.

They should put the posters up on FIP, lots of missing bears on the island this time of year!

If they were to Americanize the show they would have to rename it and the titular character to Penn and that would be stupid.

Well I guess now you don't have to see the show because you know one staging element that doesn't reveal any major plot twists, resolutions, or surprises.

I knew Paddington growing up, as did many Americans, even if he may not have the same level of recognition in the U.S as some other IPs. But the movies performed well here and kids who were born when the first film came out 12 years ago are now exactly the right age to want to see a stage show. Plus it's in the cultural consciousness of the younger demographic of theatergoers with the Nicolas Cage Paddington 2 meme on social media.

For me it has a pretty much five star act one, about as good as musical theatre can get.

But it falls off in act 2 by dragging out the ending and with 3 or 4 filler songs that dont add much. Including the very self indulgent Bonnie Langford number. In fact Bonnie in general was pretty awful, and can't do a Scottish accent at all. Not sure her career really warrants 'west end legend' status either.

The rest of the west end cast are outstanding however. I think VHB is the standout who should transfer with it, with maybe the two leads actors as Paddington.

If VHB doesn't transfer with it, maybe someone like Laura Benanti

Paddington is heading to New York.

A musical about the anthropomorphic, marmalade-loving bear is opening on Broadway in the spring of 2027. The show’s transfer was teased with posters of Paddington, which have been popping up around the theater district with the phrase “Have you seen this bear?”

“Paddington: The Musical” will play at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre after “Moulin Rouge” wraps up its seven-year run. It will begin performances on March 30 ahead of opening night on April 18.

Why do you constantly try to shut people down whenever they float the idea of tours or transfers? Tours are an integral part of the industry and it is expected for Broadway hits to tour. Tours are the lifeblood of a whole system of performing arts centers nationwide and are also often counted on to accomplish recoupment.
