I hope sales will build, and a rave from the Times might help, and I'm sure it will run its 9 weeks, but this worries me for the sustainability of the smaller piecesover the course of the next few months. Time will tell."
The August Wilson theatre is relatively large for a play (seating capacity is over 1200 people). I forget the last time it housed a play.
A revival of The Crucible in 2002.

Seconded! I saw the pro-shot on Amazon and was underwhelmed but definitely got the impression it would work much better live and in an intimate space. I barely remember the ending now but would love to hear how it morphed over time and where it stands.

Was it made “bigger” for Broadway or same design etc.

Slight set design spoilers:
The bulk of the play takes place in what is virtually the same set, without the three downstage raked levels. It's just one platform with a slight diagonal slope.
The dramatically altered ending involves a "big" set modification that you can see in the curtain call videos.

Oh I’ll have to check it out! Love that. Don’t think I’ll have time in my schedule to see the show this weekend.
The new ending sounds very interesting. The previous one I feel was meant to be jarring and seemingly out of nowhere - I wonder if the nudity is an attempt to also have that kind of ending but be hopeful instead of sad, which Nwandu had mentioned about her reasons for changing it in the context of the events of the past year.
Interesting that a woman is Gabriel Ebert's standby. I imagine that would make it feel almost like a different play in some parts if she were to go on. Instead of "Mister," is she "Karen?" lol.

I just one the Lucky Seat lottery for tomorrow. Thanks for posting the link or I would not have done it
Excited but nervous about such a big event.
Burn me at the stake for unironically posting a TikTok on a BWW thread…
This was posted from backstage by Cody Renard, Pass Over’s SM, as they made last nights preshow announcement. It’s just all too heartwarming.

I wish it well, but sales for the next few weeks seem abysmal, even with this presumably available to LCT members. That's good news if you are dying to see it for free or under $35, though. Curious how reviews will be, and if the fact that it's "the only game in town" is enough to bring in a sustainable audience.
Have the producers announced if they are publishing grosses yet? I'm of the opinion that anyone who doesn't publish grosses should be expelled from the Broadway League...but I know most aren't quite that passionate :)

Congrats! Were you able to choose your own seat on Seat Geek after winning? If so, what were the seat selections like?

I literally typed this first paragraph this morning, then deleted it for fear of sounding too harsh on the first night back. I'm sure that, between Lincoln Center's funding and planned contingency in the budget, the show might not make back it's investment, but should be able to get through it's 9 week run. Aside from the Covid mitigation cost, it's a small cast on a unit set-it shouldn't cost them all that much to run each week.
It'll be fine. I don't think anyone involved expects it to be some huge success. It's the first play - a small one with no "names" - in almost 2 years. It'll play the run, but I don't see it being a Hugh Jackman in Music Man type of thing.
Per the set question what actually happens? With the pictures it looks like it's a scrim with a lampost in front. Is that it?

The League has previously said grosses are not going to be reported this season through May 2022. So everyone's favorite pastime here, Let's Piss All Over the Underperforming Show, will have to wait.

I don't see anything wrong with not reporting grosses this season... they know most shows will close by January, just as we know most shows will close by January due to a lack of tourism. It's unfortunately going to be a seemingly endless funeral procession of closing notices being posted in the fall months.

My god, Jordan, do you ever post anything that is not just complete end of the world doom and gloom? Your negativity is beyond tiring.

Putting this in a Spoiler Tag, as I believe the set is a major change from previous productions.
It’s up on Will Call Club for tonight’s 8pm performance. $5.

You shouldn't be posting that. Please delete.
Got a discount code after losing the lottery that was VERY generous and allowed me to choose my own seat. Very excited to see this tonight.

Should I be worried that I have not gotten my ticket info/link for tonight's show from Lucky Seat?
Has anyone else who "won" gotten the actual link yet?

UGH I did not know you were required to have seatgeek app for this, long story but old iPhone 6 no longer get updates and can't can rarely download apps on outdated IOS I think I found a work around with my email. The folks at Lucky Seat were very responsive though I don't think they knew it required the app. Fingers crossed it works but I might of skipped if I had known the tech issues
Very interesting play. I’ll be thinking about for a while, I’m sure. It wasn’t at all what i was expecting - which I liked. For a play that was an hour forty five with no intermission, it really didn’t feel like it. I laughed a lot more than I thought I would and I do appreciate the message of the piece. However, the ending -
it felt like there were too many endings and it couldn’t decide on one so they just went all out - and, for me, I’m not sure it entirely worked. The entire play felt very “Godot” to me and I would have been very happy with an ambiguous ending or even an ending (like I thought would happen) where they wake up and start the day over again in an endless loop of the same day. I feel like the “Garden of Eden” they were in (was that what it was supposed to be? I was confused by him picking the Apple off the tree there) and “washing away the sins” was too on the nose for what we had just seen.
But besides that ending, and I haven’t seen the filmed version so I’ll have to check that out, I did enjoy it and recommend it to anyone wanting to see, I guess anything, since it’s the only thing playing.
It was nice being in a Broadway house again sitting next to people and sharing that experience here. We’ve been without it for far too long.
