i was listening to the cast recording and in Song of Forgetting, when Diana says "The day we met/We shared 2 beers" then dan says "Then" and she says "i forget" and then dan says "but that's 19 years"....does he mean it as in like "all those years of our life and you dont remember anything at all?" or more like "it's ok that was 19 years ago" i remember questioning that when i saw the show i was kinda confuzed.

I rushed again this morning! The show is in such good shape (much more polished than the first preview). I especially like the new lighting effect at the end of "There's A World."
I thought I saw Ben at the matinee, so that makes sense. The only merchandise I saw were t-shirts and pre orders for the CD. As I wrote, the show is much tighter and I didn't notice any technical glitches.
The cast seems to be playing the comedic moments more genuinely than before. Lines like "My husband is waiting in the car" were more honest and less hammy (not that they were necessarily played for cheap laughs before).
I thought that the small lyric/staging/lighting changes were all for the best and I don't miss the crib at all. The only thing I wish they changed was the big musical theater moment in "Song of Forgetting" where they all turn their heads to sing to the audience.
I honestly don't know how Alice keeps getting better in this role! She finds new subtleties each time I've seen her. Bobby has also gotten more comfortable with his role; he's less stiff in the first act and "I've Been" was incredible. I can't wait to see the show again! Updated On: 4/11/09 at 10:51 PM
Bobby's I've Been broke me last night. Simply amazing.

They're going to have to stop giving out so many comps at some point. Especially the last time I saw it, the theater was FILLED (and I'm talking like 60-70% of the audience) with theater insiders and their friends. Let's hope the reviews are good enough for the comps to be stalled.
But at the same time, I just kinda hope this show doesn't get a SPRING AWAKENING-esque following that ruins everyone else's experience because of how creepily obsessed they are with it.
"The only thing I wish they changed was the big musical theater moment in "Song of Forgetting" where they all turn their heads to sing to the audience."
They cut that? I rather liked that moment.
I suppose they're trying to make sure the tone is consistent throughout the show.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
Does anyone know where Brantley was sitting at the matinee yesterday? My friend and I were at the show and moved our seats during intermission and sat next to a guy who was by himself and could potentially have been Brantley but we're not sure.
I've never posted on here before but had to report on the insanity at Next to Normal rush this morning. Sorry to put this in the love thread as it wasn't the most positive experience (but I do love Next to Normal).
My friend and I got there really early and waited outside for hours in the freezing cold. When the box office finally opened, a really nasty woman opened the door welcomed us by saying "Come in one at a time and if anyone makes noise I will kick you out". This was just the start of her tirade... with no good reason. We went to the window expecting AA101-104 and instead got C 7 &9 and D7 &9. We asked if there was anything in the front row. The guys rudely said something like "you get what you get". Then, people behind us wound up getting front row seats... on the side, but definitely better seats than the ones we got. Given that with the Next to Normal rush, the best seats have been given to the first people in line (the people who had waited the longest), it seemed unfair for that to change. I have no idea why the actual rush seats changed and don't know if it was a one time thing or something permanent.
My friend asked if there was rush for opening night and the man selling tickets said no. She then asked if she could buy tickets for opening night and he barked "It's sold out" without even checking. Turns out, it was not sold out. So, not only did he provide false information, he prevented a ticket sale.
The woman who reprimanded us when opening the door was yelling at people non-stop... for no reason. Honestly, everyone was being respectful and cordial and she was telling people to get out of the lobby (not even giving time to put money away), didn't want them to look at the seating chart, etc. Someone asked what her name was and she said "I don't have to tell you". I asked for the name of the theater manager and she barked "Find it yourself." Words can't accurately describe how she acted. You just had to be there. Let's just say that her behavior was completely inappropriate and uncalled for.
Here is the clincher. An older woman got on the rush line right around noon and was way at the back. The nasty woman went to the door closer to 45th street, opened it for the older woman, brought her right to the box office and allowed her to purchase 2 rush tickets. The nasty woman helped her cut the rush line and, because she did, 2 other people who were waiting in line did not get rush seats. When someone confronted the nasty woman about it, she said something along the lines of "I can do whatever I want".
I tried to talk to the theater manager about it, but she really didn't care. She basically said "I"m sorry people were rude to you" and seemed less than sincere.
Sorry that my first post is so negative. I'll end on a positive note and say that the show was absolutely AMAZING!
