Wife and co-worker saw last night--- Officially both converted !!! Wife said best show she has seen in years, and was up all night downloading score... !!!
On a whim last week I went five minutes to curtain and got E1 in the orchestra for $25. So I was very happy with that.
Boydownstairs-what time did the first person get there today? Any idea?
I am just so hooked on this show. I'm about to put the recording back on.
Can't wait to see it again!
"A birdcage I plan to hang. I'll get to that someday. A birdcage for a bird who flew away...Around the world."
"Life is a cabaret old chum, only a cabaret old chum, and I love a cabaret!"-RIP Natasha Richardson-I was honored to have witnessed her performance as Sally Bowles.
I was there WAY too early ~ we'll put it that way. But I didn't know what it was like in general and with this being the first day of Spring Break for NYC public schools, etc... I would rather be very early than the person right after they run out. I'm weird that way.
Second in line got there at 7:15. The next bunch got there a few minutes later. And then critical mass started building around 8:45 or so.

LIVE THAT LESSON!!!!!!
^Anyone know what the weekend rush has been like? What is a good time to get there? Since I'm visiting my parents in NJ next weekend, I'm so tempted to take a bus into NYC to rush the show either Sat or Sun.
I'm actually looking to go next weekend (the 18th), not this weekend. I'm using the Patriot's Day holiday in MA to take a long weekend :).
Hmm, 10:30 with 25 people, that's not too bad, considering a normal Sunday has two shows. Though now TDF has tickets up for all four shows next weekend, so I'm also tempted to go that route. I'm just unsure of my plans that weekend with my family at this point.
all of the pictures are pretty much amazing though :)
I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.
snl89, thanks for posting those pictures! That one of Aaron and Bobby is so powerful, and has made me start thinking about the I Am the One (Reprise) again.
I can't believe it hasn't even been a week since I've seen the show and I already am dying to go back!
How is it possible I STILL have another week to wait before I get to take this in!
And MY...there are an awful lot of "us" going on the 18th!
PS....I just had to use the new pix for my avatar!
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Is it just me or does Alice's hair look different. Alice actually looks great, she's even lost weight since arena stage.
"There's nothing good on. The media hates Christmas. The media loves vampires, though. Maybe they will show a Twilight Christmas." -Danmeg's 10 year old son.
I recently had the pleasure of seeing Next to Normal and I was blown away. I had heard positive things about the show before seeing it, but for some reason I was nervous about liking it. However, as soon as the story started, I was completely drawn in. The story was totally original and interesting and the music was great. I loved how there were so many styles of music in this one show. It really kept the story moving.
This show is worth every penny for just seeing Alice Ripley's performance alone. They should just give her the Tony now! She was just dead on and took the audience on her journey. He had everyone hooked. The whole cast was great for that matter. Jennifer Damiano and J. Robert Spencer were fantastic and there are no words to describe Aaron Tveit. His voice is a gift to this earth. (The show also featured a really cool set and the lighting was done by the incredible Kevin Adams)
Some people have argued that this show is not accurate in it's view on mental illness, and while this might be the case (I have no idea) I think anything that gets people thinking and talking about touchy subjects like the ones covered in this show, the show has done it's job. I think the fact that there is a whole thread on this board discussing different types of mental illness etc. is a testiment to how great this show is!
I really hope that there is room for Broadway on this show so that as many people can discover it as possible. Please go see it if you haven't already done s, and if you have gone go again like I surely will!
I just got the cast recording and listened to it, it was my first exposure to this show, and WOW, I love it. Hope that it comes to London at some point, or I get over to New York to see it.
Going for the first time on the 18th. SO excited!!!!
