Newsies: They'll do the last bit of Santa Fe or maybe just do the prologue which isn't too long and then probably Seize the Day. They already did King of New York on a high profile stage at the Thanksgiving Day Parade and Seize the Day will show off all the choreography. I think Carrying the Banner would substitute nicely for Seize the Day but I sadly don't see it happening.

Is it realistic to hope for Laura doing a song from Bonnie & Clyde? I just ask because Spiderman performed last year and they weren't even eligible (and don't even get me started on Memphis), so it makes me think it's possible, but I don't want to get my hopes up.

Newsies is lucky that they have a lot of songs to choose from that are TV friendly, I'd personally like to see either Carrying the Banner, The World will Know or Once and for All but I think they'll either do a medley or Seize the Day/Santa Fe, it's their signature song like what Circle of Life is to The Lion King and Supercali is for Mary Poppins.
Newsies is not going to perform a number that doesn't prominently feature their nominated star. If they do a Santa Fe/Seize the Day medley (which seems likely), it won't be the prologue version of the song...it will be the act 1 finale, so they can have Jordan sing that last note.
Well, Jeremy is the lead for "The World Will Know," so that's a possibility. It's also the closest to the movie version which might actually help get the film purists more on board. And it has a good amount of dancing, too.
I don't see why Jeremy Jordan couldn't be given a verse of King of New York. Spring Awakening did something similar with giving part of The Bitch of Living to Jonathan Groff. To be honest, I never even realized Jordan's not part of the number.
I'd love to see the mermaid number from Peter and the Starcatcher!
In fact, get the guys in One Man to perform a number as well. Showcase how the best musical moments can happen in plays.
Why would Spider-man perform at two consecutive Tony's when they aren't even in nominated?
They have a few tech nominations this year. Could care less if they perform.
I would like Once to do Gold, and maybe fit in part of the acapella into it.
And yes, to both Peter and One Man getting to pereform. I bet its not too impossible!
Maybe open the show with a number from Once, with the bar setting and various nominees having a beverage while the cast of Once performs.
They were opposed to doing an idea like that with The Book of Mormon from last year because it was seen as blatant favoritism to have the opening centered around one show (I remember hearing Stone/Parker inquired about opening with "Hello" and opening doors with nominated show.)

If they were to allow GHOST to do a mini (or perhaps major...) number, would you do one of Oda Mae's big numbers (to feature nominated Da'vine?) Or would you feature one of the #'s with some special effects? (which may be tough to duplicate on the Tony stage)... or do you have Caissie and Mark do a quieter number to accentuate the romance?
Interesting choices...
^It's Caissie and Richard. Mark Evans is in the West End production.
If Ghost performs, i think they should do either 'I'm Outta Here' or 'Are you a Beliver'- espcially Outta Here. I am not sure how Da'vine is performing the song these days as i remember the first preview she was struggling with the number.
Follies is a hard one- Who's That Woman would be awsome. i kinda want them to do I'm Still Here, Especially since Paige wasn't nominated (i don't think), so the song would be really fit LOL.
As much as I want Follies to perform one of their big production numbers- Who's That Woman or a version of the Loveland sequence would be wonderful- I think since the show closed months ago they'll take the easy route and have one of the actors perform a solo from the show. Perhaps nominee Jane Houdyshell will sing "Broadway Baby." I can easily see them bringing in Elaine Paige to sing "I'm Still Here" or Bernadette Peters to perform "Losing My Mind." Having one of the latter two ladies perform would give them a chance to shine and make up for any perceived snub by the Tony committee. Peters seems a likely choice to perform since she's arguably the most recognizable name in the show (and the award shows love to have any excuse to bring in the stars) and ahe's also going to be receiving the Isabelle Stevenson Award that night. Any of those solos mentioned are instantly recognizable to theatre fans and don't require taking the time to bring in the whole cast from LA to rehearse and then perform for the telecast.

Why is everyone so sure that Evita will do Buenos Aires ??? The show's main draw is Ricky, why wouldn't they choose a number in which he is prominently featured ?
And I think Newsies will do Seize the Day/Santa fe again ! Although they have done it in many TV appearances, it is a great representative piece of the show and any chance to hear Jeremy's amazingly thrilling last note, is fine by me !!!

Good point Matt2. I hope they just get Bernadette to sing LOSING MY MIND now..hopefully right before they announce the best actress award :P.
(Remind me which of the leads went to the LA production?) It wouldnn't suprise me if Follies didn't perform -- it might be to much to do so along with all the traveling the actors would be doing just to attend. They have to think about their return.
I don't really care what anyone performs -- but I DON'T want touring companies, or non nominated shows to. I think its much more clear cut to only have the 8 'best' noms preform rather than have to decide where else to draw the line.
All leads EXCEPT Bernadette went.

I think they'll want to do a number that features their choreography, and Buenos Aires would be the one that works best.
I think the Waltz for Eva & Che would be a good choice as well.
Has any show that was still playing and nominated for Best Musical NOT performed at the Tonys? (Speaking of LOF here of course)
Remember that the producers of the nominated shows have to foot the bill for all costs incurred in performing on the telecast. I would be surprised if the producers of FOLLIES sprang for a big production number given that the show has already closed and it would be a major cost to do so. If its featured at all on the telecast, it will likely be a solo or a duet.

I would just like to see a little bit of every show at the Tony's. That's what I usually enjoy
Seeing the shows perform at the Tonys is usually the highlight for me. Tivo my way right to them...
