I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...

A dull song? Did you catch any of the rest of the View today? If I didn't have the ability to fast forward through video recordings I never would have been able to stay awake to watch this. The cooking lady was especially unbearable.
I thought this segment was an effective presentation of The Pirate Queen, but I seldom think TV captures what makes live theater work.
A question for anyone who has seen other theater spots on the View recently (I haven't). Does Rosie usually say something about having seen the show or what she thought of it? I remember from Rosie's old program that she would always talk about how much she loved the shows she'd have on, but I don't know if the time is too restricted on the View to permit this. (Or did Rosie just not want to say anything in this case?)
"I have got to have some professional music!" - Big Edie
I don't watch THE VIEW regularly but it looked to me like they ran out of time. They didn't even have a chance to say what the story was about let alone comment on how they enjoyed it. Do we know if Rosie has even seen it yet?
It was good exposure. I really love that millions of people got to see a glimpse of it. If it comes up in conversation "oh yeah, I saw that on The View" or if the people in the audience who got tickets like it and spread the word that's probably all they can hope for.
And Eric, I totally agree. Big dance/ensemble numbers never translate quite as impressively on TV as they do on stage.
They have been putting the Broadway SHows on the last few minutes of the show, sometimes they leave time to talk to the cast but not always. Call me Crazy (many have and worse) but I enjoy "If I Said I Love You" and the rest of the score also. And the dancing is just so exciting. And when I walked by the Hilton today there was a line of people buying tickets, (not a huge line, but a line) and their numbers last week were actually decent. Sail ON! snoozefest..the dancers were great though. Hadley has an amazing voice but steph is just overdoing it. It did seem weird that the performance was tacked on..there wasn't enough time in todays show.. btw that cooking lady is paula deen and she's freakin awesome. They need to have her back ASAP!!
I really want to see the pirate queen.. but i really have no patience for riverdance, riverdream, lord of the dance and whatever else.. never caught my attention.. tough decision
Can someone PLEASE post a link to this if/when it goes online??? I'm a student... therefore at class when the show aired and SUPER BUMMED i missed it!
I have tix for early May tho and I, contrary to many people, could not be more excited about it!
Steph is simply amazing (i don't think she "overdoes" anything... she's just a really INTENSE passionate performer), Hadley sounds phenomenal, the writers are brilliant, and the pictures I've seen look fantastic. Call me too optimistic but I'm going in with good thoughts!
Eh. SJB, and the dancers were good. Hadley was fine. Boring clip though.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
Thanks for posting...I forgot to tape it. That clip pretty much summed up what I thought of the show (pre-Broadway): SJB is amazing, I wanted the slow music to move on faster, and I wanted more dancing.
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D

Back from my visit to NYC...very cold and wet. Saw PQ again (several times actually) and despite all the negative reviews, I still love this show.
Don't care what the critics say...the audiences are loving it!
The View this morning was GREAT. I understand that Rosie has not seen the show, however she plans on going this week or next. I understand (from a very reliable source)she enjoyed the PQ brief performance and she thought Stephanie's voice was amazing.
Hey I understand that SorryfulGrateful and SueleenGay missed me after opening. Thanks guys! I'm back now and raring to go!
"And Eric, I totally agree. Big dance/ensemble numbers never translate quite as impressively on TV as they do on stage. "
Yeah it's nearly ALWAYS a prob (i don't get why people resist the urge to just shoot dancing *primarily* head on, showing the full body, the way most audiences would see it--sure pan a bit but why weird angles, cuts to just faces, etc--inane but it's a common problem in film and tv) but with the View (probably because the camera people are used to filming static talking, and the set looks small) it's especially a problem. You miss any sense of the shape of the dance
...Rosie said that they had another SMASH ON THEIR HANDS!? Isn't this show doing horribly???

Yes Nathan, just as Popular stated, PQ is doing very well. It's numbers are rising each week and the seats are pretty much sold out until through June. I'm praying that this show will fare much in the same way Les Mes has/is done/doing.
Thanks for the welcome back Popular. Sure enjoyed NY. The cast of PQ was most hospitable
I didn't see the Pirate Queen on the View today but I just wanted to say that one can't really take Rosie's comments too seriously. She gushes about every single show she sees and frequently says "its the best show of the last 10 years". She's said it about Mary Poppins, Spring Awakening and Grey Gardens to mention a few. I know that she is doing it to pump broadway but it does get a little annoying, especially when you are comparing MP to GG!
I only see part 2 and part 3. Where is part 1? And the part about Raul?
