I’m so so sad about this. Like many others, I joined Amanda at 6pm EST almost everyday to Live Your Life. I truly hoped he would be able to get to the point to see his wife and son again, for both him and for them. I saw Nick in A Bronx Tale, Bullets and the character we all hated in Waitress, Earl. He was outstanding in all of them and his music and singing outside of his theater performances was also outstanding.
Rest in Peace, Nick. You certainly deserve it. If you would like to honor his memory, please consider donations to: https://gf.me/u/x3mb3i. Lord only knows what those hospital bills will be and this would at least help his family.
Really shocked by Nick Cordero’s passing and how it could happen to someone so young and fit. I created this video dedicated to his career on stage. RIP Nick X
Waited a few days before I posted this out of respect to Nick.
I understand that his hospital bills were covered by crowd funding, which is awesome. When he got sick he wasn’t working so his healthcare wasn’t picked up by an employer, as he wasn’t employed. So wouldn’t he be covered under the affordable Healthcare Bill (Obama Care?)
I am British, so have a little grasp how American healthcare works.
I'm pretty sure that Amanda said in one of her Instagram live vids that he had great healthcare coverage, so it isn't clear that the gofundme money is actually going toward his hospital bills.

Even with great insurance, 3 months in the ICU isn't cheap. A large portion of the money will probably go to hospital bills. I'm sure Nick would want the rest to be put toward the family's financial security and his son's education.
I usually don't buy magazines anymore, but I was at the supermarket and saw Nick's beautiful face smiling at me from the rack at the check out counter.
I could not resist.
I brought 2 copies.
RIP Nick

You really need to gain a better understanding of how health insurance works in the United States. Even bad insurance (and I very much doubt Nick's insurance was bad) pays all expenses once you hit the maximum out of pocket amount which, for the worst plans, is capped at $16,300 per family in 2020. People have health insurance so they don't have to worry about hospital bills if they have to spend 3 months in the ICU. This is not to suggest in any way that the family did not have terrible expenses during this beyond-challenging period but let's keep the facts straight.
I wasn’t super familiar with Cordero’s work, but from what I saw and heard, he seemed to be a very talented and likable individual. Sad to know he’s gone at such a young age, especially since it seemed like he was in horrible shape for his last few months.

Depending on the policy they had, it probably didn't cover everything; however, there is usually a maximum out of pocket, which means that they would be responsible for X amount, but no more than that. As a retiree, I have a supplemental policy to cover expenses not covered by Medicare. Even there, you can pay a little and get better coverage, you can pay a lot more and get essentially full coverage (with medicine being an exception). I mention this only to say that there COULD be bills not covered by his policy at all. Pure guessing on my part, however.
Kloots shared that during the memorial service, guests listened to the song "I'm Here" from The Color Purple Broadway show as a way to honor a date she and Cordero had years ago.
The lyrics to that song are so powerful considering all he went through. I think many people will be saddened by his passing for a very long time. If Broadway was open, I'm sure they would have dimmed the lights for him.
