Rachel McAdams to star in Amy Herzog's MARY JANE (Broadway/MTC, Spring 2024) — Page 2

Really excited for this one. The only new show that I have gotten tickets for are this and Notebook. Will get Appropriate if it moves, and just saw (and loved) Patriots in London. No other new musical excites me, so I may be TKTSing for the other 5 slots that I have.
I may do Gatsby just because they have a Thursday afternoon...would also allow me to compare to the Welch version, which I will be seeing at ART in July.

Has the 30 under 35 gone live for this and what seats? Waiting on my manhattan club email

Doesn't seem like the 30 under 35 have gone live yet :(

30 under 35 doesn't usually go live until a few weeks before first preview.

I asked about Mary Jane yesterday when I picked up my 30 Under 35 for Prayer and the box office said the email should go out around the time the French Republic run ends (March 3).

The Water for Elephants 30 Under 35 email said 30U35 tickets for Mary Jane will be available beginning March 7

I thought it was just Playbill being lazy, but this is really the banner image for the production. You could just not have the photo.

I just read an interview in Vulture with Amy Herzog and Sam Gold, primarily about An Enemy of the People, but also touching on Mary Jane. Apparently it's largely based on Herzog's relationship with their daughter, who had a muscular disease, and passed away less than a year ago.
In the interview both of them seem unsure how comfortable they are talking about her death, and Herzog is not sure how difficult Mary Jane rehearsals will be for her once they start. From what I read about the play from it's off Broadway run it's harrowing to watch, and it sounds like the experience is going to be 100X more fraught behind the scenes.

AT least it isn't horrific like what they were running with till now, but this is still poor. What's with the horror-movie like shadowing on the letters?

Ugh, what a horrifying thing for parents to have to deal with.

Wow good thing I got a 30 under 35 ticket when they went on sale. I’m sure there will be a digital rush as there always is for mtc.

Yeah, they went fast, could not find any yesterday evening when I checked.

I just noticed on Telecharge that they seem to have added a short first row. BB was previously the first row showing, but now there's a six-seat AA (three seats on each side of the aisle) on all dates. The seats don't seem available (or have all sold out already? Or are for lottery/rush?) but may be worth keeping an eye on for those who want to sit close.

God, the 30 under 35 tickets vanished instantly for this. I stupidly didn't check until the next day or so and missed them entirely. Any discount codes or anything for this?
Posted: 3/17/24 at 7:55pm
Very, very confused...TodayTix and Telecharge lists this as two hours and five minutes with an intermission...it was 90 minutes with no intermission at NYTW (I don't know how you possibly have an intermission in this play IYKYK)
I've been trying to see if Herzog has revised the script but as far as everything is reading, it's the same frozen script since 2017...so I'm not sure what's going on? Are there new revisions that they aren't being public about? Is the pace glacial now? Anyone got any info?

It ran with an intermission in its premiere staging at Yale Rep.

That’s such a shame. Going in with an open mind but I can’t imagine an intermission won’t completely halt the momentum. The set “reveal/transition” into the second half of the play was completely gripping and really launches you into the reality of MJ’s situation…not having an intermission was really just perfect.
and 2 hours and 5 minutes still feels very long for this play as currently is on paper. Wondering what additional elements they’re adding…

I got a mailer with the code DRMMARY for a discount during previews 4/2-4/21. It says with code tickets start at $59 at the box office and $74 online.

I can imagine the end of “act one” still being quite gripping if it ends with an intermission. As I recall:
Mary Jane runs into her son’s room and you mostly just hear her frantically comforting him as the set transitions to the hospital.
If it blacks out there, and the curtain rises on the reveal, that’s still a pretty stark act closer and opener.
