It's official. RED has booked the Golden according to Variety.
"For the Broadway incarnation of "Red," more than 60 tickets per perf will be sold for $25 each in a nod to the Donmar's mission to increase the accessibility of theater". Variety Website
I saw this play last night at the Donmar and let me just say I had no idea who Rothko was or what the play was about until I was watching but it is a really great piece of theatre. The writing is excellent and really draws you in.
I saw this last Fri and I wanna say... you do NOT wanna miss this! Go watch it! It's only 100 mins long with no interval but it's soo intriguing & the acting is soo well done, esp Eddie Redmayne! Just one question... do these limited engagements productions get considered for Tony nominations?? If so, both actors should definitely get a nomination!

Went to queue for returns yesterday at 5.10, one person in front of me, we got tickets by 5.20ish, D3, it's a nice seat, not the best for this show but it's good, face value 22.5 pounds. I have to say, 2nd time viewing, this play still leaves me in complete awe. The discussion of this play is so intriguing and it just amazes me how good the acting was going on onstage! How can Eddie Redmayne do this every night?!?! Just breaking down and Alfred Molina's Rothko cracking under the stress... it's just quality theatre for me. I wish they could've transferred the show to the West End instead of Broadway, but good for the production! I hope they come back to London for some time!!! And I do hope to see Eddie onstage sometime soon. As I heard from another audience member walking past 'this face was just born to act, so beautiful, so raw, so true' -> couldn't agree more!
I also did a drawing of the show:

I know haha, Rothko's drawing are just colours and shapes, totally different to mine and I dont even DARE to compare the 2! But this is my 2nd drawing of Red, cuz I don't think I get Eddie Redmayne right in the 1st time, this time it's improved... but he looks so different everytime, he can look so hauntingly beautiful but at the same time very ugly as well... not sure if you understand. The black patch is supposed to be Eddie's shadow over Alfred's Rothko, because throughout the play there has been this significant amount of mentioning that Rothko's scared of 'Black swallowing the Red' and also how the new wave will cover the old wave. And I just feel in real life, Eddie's performance overshadowed Alfred's as well, so all in all, just a shadow over Alfred/Rothko ~
