How do you go to press saying the Barrymore is a possible fit when The Band's Visit was announced weeks ago?
nothing is stated about the Barrymore...this will go to the CORT

I would think that, if given the choice, Martin would want to stay as far away from the Cort as possible (given how long his previous production lasted there). But what do I know?

Frankly... I don't think Martin gives a sh*t where his show plays. If the Cort is available and offering up their space to him, I'm sure he'd take it.
You're so right. The fact that so many people dislike a performer is reason to prejudge their performance and chance of success. The utter disdain for Miss Schumer, especially given her very young career, seems to involve something more than her artistic efforts, however.

And I was very careful to word it that way (given that people like to try to be picky picky with everything I say).
Amy Schumer sells out arenas around the country, she can sell a smaller Broadway house. I don't love her, but those of you doubting her box office power are just looking at your own bias.

I think it's a fair question. There are different issues to consider. How long will the run be? Will she stage door? It's not the same thing as going out on tour. If she gets the part and the play comes to Broadway... will people who go to those tour shows come to see the play? For those who don't live in the area, it will involve extra travel and likely a higher ticket price. And she'll be in a play, not performing her own material. Oh, Hello managed to do well but they brought in celebrity guests and while it wasn't straight up stand up or sketch, it was more of Mulaney and Kroll doing what their fans have already come to like.
I do think she probably still has a substantial fan base who would keep the show running at least for a few months. But there is also a backlash over her politics, some "punching down" and racist material, joke stealing, and overexposure.

Yeah, 7 people in a Broadway forum wouldn't go see her... I hope the producers are paying attention!

I say in my post that I believe it will be a hit. It may surprise you to know that there are people in this country who loathe Schumer who don't even post on this board.

Not quite sure what your point is? You could find people who loathe Mother Teresa on an anonymous message board.
