Rob Marshall to Bring FOLLIES to the Big Screen?

Ok jv92..I can see your point..but all those older french guys back then were horny toads, weren't they? Rob Marshall to Bring FOLLIES to the Big Screen?

UGH @ Spielberg even ATTEMPTING to remake WEST SIDE STORY.

Why doesn't he pick on some other musical that TRULY needs fixing, like THE WIZ...or A CHORUS LINE...or tackle something that hasn't been made yet and not a film that has won a record breaking 10 Academy Awards including BEST PICTURE.

@tazber, Diana Ross' casting and the god-awful screenplay is why I hate THE WIZ so much and I feel that EVITA is underrated for I actually like Madonna and Alan Parker's direction really helped.

High five for the HAIR love! Rob Marshall to Bring FOLLIES to the Big Screen?

I agree 100% Carlos, a remake of THE WIZ and A CHORUS LINE is wanted immediately.

^ I just watched HAIR this weekend and it's indeed a very good film adaptation, the only problem I had was the staging of the title song in a prison - - - during a fight while John Savage looks on in horror. A truly W T F moment.

I'd like to see Madonna with a great director in another musical. I can't think of which one, but it's something I'd like to see her do.

As for Spielberg's WSS remake - I don't hate the idea. If it were another director, I would but there's just something about the fact it's HIM that I trust it 100%.

@Carlos, yeah some songs are staged that way but that's one of the reasons why I love it so much, Thwarp and director Milos Forman really wanted to go crazy and all out with that one.

From the early reviews of INTO THE WOODS it sounds as if Rob Marshall has redeemed himself after the guilty pleasure-fest but still bad NINE, I don't know why people STILL have issues with him. He actually comes from theater and he does his best to make a film from love and care (though NINE's faults really comes from the producers and writers).

LOL at a Michael Bay FOLLIES; Phyllis and Sally find a boom box, they both sit on it and the theater blows up with the ghosts and guests flying, while the two women kiss each other.

OK, The real reason I don't want to see a remake of WEST SIDE STORY is because I don't want to see another actress on screen portraying "Maria". Natalie Wood for me *is* "Maria" and she's still strongly identified with the role and despite the fact that her singing was dubbed she captured the wide eyed head-over-heels innocence of that character and then just rips your heart out with all that pain and rage at the tragic end.

I don't want it remade!

I don't wanna! I don't wanna! I don't wanna!!!!!

I completely agree with you, Carlos. But I think Lohan will do a fine job in the role.

Jordan, WTF are you trying to do?!! Give me a muthafriggin' heart attack!!!

Lol. Sorry. I meant LINDSAY Lohan. Not Dina. Didn't mean to scare you!

LMAO....I knew DAMN WELL who you meant!

@jv92: I have no problem with Spielberg. I have a problem with him trying to remake WEST SIDE STORY.

Yeah, MISS SAIGON is right up his alley. Hell, let him remake THE WORLD OF SUZIE WONG for all I care. Just as long as he keeps his mitts off WEST SIDE STORY.

"I think Marshall would do a good job with Wicked."

As my great grandmother used to say -- now you're cookin' with gas!
