Idk. That was the first name that came to me.
Anyone else?

Sydney James Harcourt has GOT to be Frank N Furter.

Still happening, so I hear. "
Yep. Summer 2025. Likely a 6 month run."
Would this be a replica of the Bennett production overseen by Baayork Lee and John Breglio, or a truly new take on the material?

This ACL stuff probably belongs on a separate thread, but in answer to your question, Sonia Friedman is involved as a producer, so I would imagine she would want something new. Of course, Breglio had insisted on replica productions in the past, so it’s anyone’s guess what this revival will look like.

Did we see the same show? Hunter's version was one of the worst things I ever saw. I didn't know Rocky could be so unsexy or unfunny. There is more to the show than just making fisting and jerk-off motions and wearing Amazon costumes.

Yes. No humor at all in the Hunter production. The costumes were awful. Rocky’s wig was Party City. When Brad and Janet ran into the Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters during “There’s a Light,” it lost me. I saw Kevin Cahoon as Frank, and he alone was an isolated bright spot.
The 2000 ROCKY HORROR revival, directed by Chris Ashley at the Circle in the Square, was one of my favorite things of all times! I first saw it as an audience member and then was lucky enough to get to usher for it for several months up until its first closing night (due to 9/11). Alas, I was out of town during the 6-week return so didn't get to witness the amazingness of Gilbert Gottfried (and the other guest stars) as the Narrator!!! I say just bring back that production since it was cut short due to the tragedy of 9/11 and let it be experienced by a new generation!!!

Yeah, Hunter's Rocky Horror at Bucks County Playhouse is really bland and dull with a lot of oddities thrown in each year. And it's way overpriced.
Again, when BCP was a non-equity summer stock theater, they did the best version of Rocky Horror I've ever attended. Off the wall wild with a lot of audience participation. Those midnight shows there were nuts.
I think Rocky Horror is a show that is deceptively difficult to get right. It's very absurd and campy and the plot barely makes sense, but it's also not something that works by making a big joke out of it- it's deeply unserious but it needs to be taken seriously by the production. And then there is the fact you have to factor in the audience interaction and leave in space for it.

Feels much better suited for Off-Broadway.
I think it can be a pretty boring show/film without all the audience stuff and the energy of a great crowd around you.
It's also tough because no matter what, there will be people in the audience who are less concerned with what the artists are doing and more concerned with making their own "contributions" to the show. Which is tough, especially, on Broadway.
What does Gen Z think of Rocky Horror? Has it continued down as it has for Millennials & older?

The 2000 revival was perfect. And perfectly cast. The rotating narrators kept things interesting, since I saw it eight times. When Gilbert Gottfried was in it, I swear it added an hour to the show. Hilarious!

My dream cast...
Jinx Monsoon as Frank-N-Furter would be pretty awesome
Lorna Courtney, Alison Luff or Julie Benko for Janet
Corbin Bleu, Darren Criss or Rob McClure for Brad
Reeve Carney for Riff Raff (I know he played this part during the RHPS TV special years ago)
James Carpinello, Jeremy Jordan or Norbert Leo Butz as Eddie
Nathan Lane or Christian Borle as Dr. Scott
I think the show works best with a male-presenting actor in women’s clothing as Frank. Since the character is a “transvestite” not a drag queen or trans woman. I’m all on the Sydney James Harcourt bandwagon. I also think Ryan McCartan would be an excellent Brad, as he was in the Fox movie, and he would probably jump at the chance, since he often says it was his favorite role.

Count me in for Sydney James Harcourt as Frank. His jellicle ball costar Antwayn Hooper might be able to do something interesting with the role too.
Adam Lambert has GOT to be Riff Raff.
I think Brad and Jane might be parts that could be attractive to bigger stars. Jonathan Bailey could do Brad well. Maybe they could finally convince Anne Hathaway to come to Broadway for Janet.
I would also love to hear Bonnie Milligan demolish Columbia's verses. And speaking of crazy vocals, I feel like Shoshana Bean could make some wild choices with Magenta.
Fantasy casting of course...but my GOD we need a revival of this so bad. PLEASE let this happen.
Actually can Lea DeLaria just reprise her role from the 2000 revival?

The Adam Lambert as Riff Raff talk reminds me that he played Eddie in the TV special from a few years back - did anybody here watch that? Apparently he had been offered Frank N. Furter but wanted a smaller role due to his touring commitments.
Would it be typecasting to suggest J. Harrison Ghee as Frank?

This one thousand per cent.
That current London production that also toured Australia was a huge mess.

They happen to be Roundabout’s Plan A.
She’s great in the cast recording! Was she cancelled or something? Forgive my naivety
Nope. She was in Potuus in 2022 and does a regular Sunday brunch show at 54 Below. Probably people are just tired of how now she just kinda does the same thing in everything.
If it's Roundabout, I bet Chris Ashley does it again.
