After winning a Olivier for best play, the Royal Courts production of Hangmen will transfer to Broadway during the 2016-2017 season with star David Morrissey, it may potentially be the production that reopen's the Hudson Theater.
It's a brilliant play and it's probably more meaningful in US than in UK

Not sure what your source is, but I hope this turns out to be true. I love me a good McDonagh play.
What is the basic premise of the play?

I really hope this is true.
this would be amazing. maybe the Hudson will be a venue with which we see many more London transfers.
I hope your principal rumor has a stronger basis than the Hudson one. For ATG to get its hands on the show would be surprising.

Why is that? Aren't they a major deal over in the UK? A serious question.
I hope this is true as well. I didn't like the play as much as I like McDonagh's other work, but that isn't saying much. It's still an great play, and I'd love for it to transfer!

Sonia Friedman has for quite a while had an inside track (if not a deal) with the Royal Court, and the West End transfer was to a theatre owned by Cameron Mackintosh's company. So while it is not impossible it would surprise me.

Isn't Sonia Friedman Productions a subsidiary of ATG though? Or did that change recently?
Man I hope this is true! David Morrissey, yes!
SFP and ATG are definitely still connected, so the Hudson could always be a possibility if other plans don't come to fruition.

1. Hangmen are no longer being used with criminals and one of the leading hangmen must now retire.
2. A serial killer may or may not be in their midst.
I saw it in the movie theatre via NT Live and while quite enjoyable, I didn't get the flat-out raves for it and I love me some McDonagh. But no doubt the energy of a live performance makes some of the humor come through more strongly.
I'm not finding anything saying ATG and Friedman are connected at this point. Can one of you provide a source?

Sonia Friedman Productions (SFP) was formed in 2002 and is a subsidiary of the Ambassador Theatre Group.

It's not just that they are no longer using hangmen with criminals, but that death penalty has been abolished.

Someone asked What's an Oliver?
Its an award the Brits give for theater. And unless you are not interested in theater you would know that
he said that because it's spelled Olivier. And unless you are not interested in theater you would know that
