I thought Jennifer was excellent as Joanne. She’s a lot sexier than Patti and I thought the part finally made sense in context. Patti sticks out like a sore thumb, for me. Also found it kind of funny that she was doing a sort of half impression/half parody of Patti. Getting last minute tickets yesterday did not disappoint.
While I am sad I won't be seeing Patti when I come into the city this weekend to see Company (for the first time) I'm not upset at seeing Simard in the role, and am in fact quite looking forward to it. I promised myself after all the shutdowns due to omicron that I would never be upset about an understudy again. I will probably switch out my Moulin Rouge tickets though in April in order to see Patti as I can't miss her in this. This is also my first Sondheim show where he did music and lyrics. I have only previously seen WSS and nothing is gonna ruin this for me.
I am really surprised at the insensitivity of this group. Patti LuPone is 72 years old (a higher risk age group for COVID) One of the greatest Broadway stars of her time. For decades. The media reported that she had COVID symptoms and then tested positive. Could no one bother to write: "Gee I hope she is OK?" Or "Get well soon Patti." Or "We love you Patti --- get well soon."
We are only discussing the tempo, the performance, the dress, the shoes, the wig, whatever of her alternate in the role. No one cared enough to say "get well soon." So I am saying it. "Get well soon, dear Patti." I hope that his is just the most mild case possible and that you are feeling great and back in the show soon --- stopping the show every night. SMH.
Can anyone confirm if Jennifer Simard will be going on as Joanne until Patti returns? According to Playbill, Simard and Anisha will alternate. I'd really love to see Jennifer, but want to be sure before getting tickets!

It would never occur to me that Patti Lupone would bother reading these message boards, so any such comment would largely be performative. Going to Twitter and making a get well comment on the actual post she herself made where she might actually see it would make a lot more sense.

a. Patti is triple vaccinated. She'll be fine.
b. I don't think Patti uses message boards.
c. Look at the replies to her tweet announcing her diagnosis.

Precisely what I did.

If the thread's title was Get Well Soon Patti Lupone, I'd comment accordingly, but it is about Simard playing Joanne. For once a thread has actually stayed on topic.

I can now confirm: Simard will be on as Joanne all week.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Ms. Simard deserves the thread, earned the positive discussion. When Winningham was out of Girl we did the same for Jennifer Blood. It’s the season to celebrate the heroic cover, and genuinely thrilling to read so much anticipatory excitement about seeing a replacement.
"I'm a comedian, but in my spare time, things bother me." Garry Shandling
I would hope that if the time ever comes for Max Clayton to go on, that the Broadway community does the same for him.

If Ms. LuPone's Covid symptoms are as mild as mine were last month, she should be fine. I wish her the best.
Thanks for all the positive comments re; Jennifer Simard. I have tickets for Wednesday and was thinking of looking into an exchange (do they even allow exchanges on TDF tickets?) but now I'm looking forward to it.
BTW: Jennifer Simard was born the same year as COMPANY premiered. Boy, do I feel old.
'Our whole family shouts. It comes from us livin' so close to the railroad tracks'
When all the characters pop around during "Not Getting Married Today" Jennifer (as Joanne) seemingly wore the same white pantsuit she wore on the opening night of Company in December. Guess they didn't have all the right costumes ready for her. She looked STUNNING in it too.

Hahaha. Like I said, Elliott's staging makes "Not Getting Married Today" the craziest game of peekaboo ever.
Is Jennifer definitely on on Wednesday? I want to come into the city to try to catch her Joanne.
