Saved 5/15/08 Review

I saw Saved last night and I have to say it has to be one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. Everyone in the cast was great. The songs I thought were not forgettable. The story line was tight the acting was great. I don't think any tweaking needs to be done at all. To me the stand out roles were Celia Keenan-Bolger(Mary) and Mary Faber(Hilary Faye). Although they should have made Hilary Faye a little more forceful like how Mandy Moore played her. But she was great. The whole cast looked so happy to be there and there was not an empty seat. I really hope this one goes to broadway. It deserves it.

Thank you for your review. I just think that Curtis Holbrook might be too old for the role already.

Ooh! I want to see this!

re: Saved 5/15/08 Review

Holbrook actually seemed young in the role. I was questioning his age when I saw it because he was so believable, whereas when I saw him in Xanadu I never doubted that he was a few years older than me. Not to worry about the age!

How was Morgan Weed as Cassandra? She was excellent as an understudy in Next to Normal.

I can't wait to see this next saturday.

re: Saved 5/15/08 Review

I don't know if you're asking Broadway212 specifically, but in my opinion, she was terrific. Many are saying that she was the surprise standout. Casssandra was a character role, and in my opinion, it's pretty well-written, so she just added to that. The "speaking in tongues" scene was well-done by her as well, and I really bought into her scene where she prays. I wish I could've seen her in Next To Normal, she seems like she'd fit that part nicely as well.

(By the way...is Saturday BWW day or something?)

I thought Aaron Tveit was in this???
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
