“The league” has no authority. It’s all up to individual producers.

Yes, I see why matinees are going ahead but I’m a bit bummed/stressed because I have TDF tickets to take 2 nieces to Chess today. We’ll get back from nyc in time and they live in a metronorth town but I have like a 45 minute drive after that

Just got the email, Mincemeat officially CANCELED tonight.

Best wishes to those at the matinee today!

You do know that the league and the producers are pretty much one in the same right?

Travel ban in NYC is effective at 9pm. Broadway would have had to shut down due to this. NJ has a travel ban beginning at 6pm until noon tomorrow.

I will never forget The Rube DeBlasio shutting down the entire mass transit service and it snowed 1/4 of an inch. This is an actual storm which justifies this travel ban even though it creates a million headaches. Having the highways be completely empty at 8am on a Monday morning will look wild but it's completely necessary looking at the radar. Yikes.

With the pile up of snow likely, what will Tuesday shows look like (we assume Monday's will be)?
What do shows do when people cannot make it to the theater from flight cancellations, travel issues ...even if sidewalks have some clearance?

It can be a very weird area, especially with Telecharge shows, as they are the only ones that don’t offer cancellation insurance. (I wonder why?). If cast and crew are able to come in, the show goes on, even at lower capacities.
Sometimes, they’ll let you rebook to another day that week if they are in a good mood. A kind voice and a good sob story go a long way.

Travel disruptions will be the lingering issue since they have a cascading effect. Otherwise I would expect things to be normal by Tuesday morning. Fortunately, this storm won't be accompanied by weeks of extremely cold temperatures- things go back up well above freezing by Wednesday.

A point I made last time, and this sent people into a frenzy. The league can advise but they can’t dictate what producers choose to do. It’s really mostly there to negotiate pay with the unions and to advocate for Broadway to the government for tax benefits.

I’m surprised Chicago cancelled. They also said it will be rescheduled at a later date. Does this mean they’re doing 9 shows next week?

I can't imagine the handful of Monday night shows are going ahead this evening, it is a total mess out right now

plus, nothing is open right now outside of a grocery store. Most of NJ got 2 feet and it's still incredibly windy.

didn't see them post about it, but did Papermill cancel their evening performance of COME FROM AWAY last night?
