I was a boyscout. Okay, everybody can stop giggling now.
Poor Pennyslvania artist's model (1899) turned New York artist's model (1900) turned chorus girl and mistress to famous architect (1901-1903) turned wife to a rich and insane sadist (1905) turned celebrity at the heart of "the crime of the century" (1906) turned vaudeville star (1913) turned cabaret girl (1920s) turned author (1930s) turned reason why Joan Collins gets plastic surgery (1955)...Evelyn Nesbit. Her story inspired the song "Crime of the Century" in Ragtime.

My icon is a publicity still of the legendary Bette Davis as Margo Channing, the star of all stars in the movie "All About Eve," perhaps the wittiest and finest film ever to come out of Hollywood that has the American theatre as its subject (and one of the greatest screenplays ever written, period).
To quote the film: "Margo Channing is a star of the theater. She made her stage debut at the age of four in 'Midsummer Night's Dream,' playing a fairy. She entered, quite unexpectedly, stark naked. She has been a star ever since."
That's me......though these days, I do tend to at least dress for dinner....... but only when absolutely necessary.
