Spamalot Ticket Sales

I don't know what the logic is behind bringing this to Broadway... especially in a huge house with no big names outside the theatre community. I think this is going to have an uphill battle in terms of moving seats.

I sure hope it's a full production. If it's not, then there's really some deceptive marketing going on, I'd say.

There's no incentive for anyone to buy tickets this early.

Buyers are waiting until later to buy now, post-Covid. There are no stars to sell tickets, it's in a large theatre, and it doesn't begin previews for more than 2 months. It's too early for the producers to be spending big on advertising. Ad spends will start for a lot of fall shows right after Labor Day - people aren't focused on November/December right now. But nothing about the choice to revive this has ever made sense to me.

SPAMALOT is not alone in its poor sales. Shows starting previews in September should be even more concerned: PURLIE and Melissa Etheridge's numbers look abysmal, GUTENBERG has a ton of inventory in the mezz and balc, and SHARK IS BROKEN (already open) is barely holding on.

I would imagine most people these days are waiting for day-of deals unless it's something they really want to see. There aren't really any giant Hard-to-get ticket type hits happening right now.

The greater disappointment is likely that Leslie isn't doing a musical, period. Which may mean people simply opt not to go, as with Audra and Patti and others. If any buyers go in expecting the musical, that's on them and it would be a minuscule number of musical theater devotees lacking reading comprehension.

It's believed it'll be a near-carbon copy of the original production. Why should anyone jump into buying full-priced tickets for this when there will definitely be discounts coming out shortly? This should also be up on TKTS daily at 50% off.

in terms of the staging and choreography. not the set, lighting and costumes.

The original closed within 3 years after the original cast left, who had sold out most of the time they were with it (yes, the recession was part of the reason for it closing, but it's not like they were doing tremendous business before it hit). And that was when the show was new and fresh 20 years ago before all the high schools and community theatres had done it. So I'm just not sure how they're expecting this to sell now with no names.

Guess I shouldn't have bought that ticket for early December, already, during that 24 hour presale. (Dang!)

At this least it was under $70 and is front row of the balcony, dead center. (Thanks to everyone here for the advice!)

Greyhound stranded 11 of us at the GWB Bus Terminal a few weeks ago and when we all called (individually) their contact number we were told they weren't Greyhound customer service. Even the emails don't go to actual people. It's all procedurally generated. So what I'm saying is, do not take Greyhound...
