LOL...
Each night, someone is plucked from the audience at "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" and made to squirm in the spotlight. This week, Lauren Gaul of the Radio City Rockettes was one of the unlucky ones. Introducing the leggy lass, the "Spelling Bee" moderator, played by Betsy Wolfe, said: "When Ms. Gaul grows up, she hopes to become a dancer, a toy soldier, a reindeer, or all of the above?" The Rockettes' "Radio City Christmas Spectacular" opened last night at the Wang Theatre.

"unlucky ones"?
I disagree, I'd love to be able to be on the stage in this show. It will never happen, but it would be fun.

So I just got my Carols for a Cure cd this week, and how much do I love "December's Other, Less Famous Holidays"- so brilliant!
Where's the holiday for the gay Filipino? -love it.

The Boston cast is holding a benefit on Tuesday! :)

Posted: 12/14/06 at 11:00pmRory was on tonight as Barfee (in NYC), he was excellent! It was (to my knowledge) his first time going on. At first it was strange to see a tall red head kid going on, but he won me over and was a great presence in the cast tonight. He will be on tomorrow night too!

So I'm reading this playbill.com interview with James Lapine, and he says that they've had audience members at the Bee spell 'cow' wrong more than once. I remember a thread about this a while back, about an audience member who (I think?) spelled it c-a-w or something, and so what do they do after that, do they do "Goodbye" and then launch into "Pandemonium"? How does it work after the audience member spells 'cow' wrong?

Yup, they have to sing the Goodbye Song to that person, then they go into Pandemonium. I've seen it a couple times when someone has misspelled Cow.
BTW- Greg used cat on Tuesday night.

Spelling Bee Love#1691
Posted: 12/17/06 at 3:31pm^By being in a large group of people, having never seen the show before, wearing a kooky outfit, dressing in all black, having a funny name, not being an actor, being a good speller, wearing jeans, over accesorising, having an distinct appearance, etc.

Posted: 12/18/06 at 1:22amThere are many more reasons than that to get picked to go on stage.

Todd is doing Henry and Mudge right now.
Kate left to go do Legally Blonde. Jacqui Polk, Mo Murphy, Lisa Yuen, Law Tarello, and Rory OMalley are the current understudies. (as far as I know)

Posted: 12/20/06 at 3:37pmI saw it the other night and have come to the conclusion that Jacqui Polk should definitely be Olive. She was so amazing, and her hair is perfect. Rory O'Malley is the best Barfee I've ever seen, and Barrett Foa is just adorable. Everyone else was wonderful.
