Each night, someone is plucked from the audience at "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" and made to squirm in the spotlight. This week, Lauren Gaul of the Radio City Rockettes was one of the unlucky ones. Introducing the leggy lass, the "Spelling Bee" moderator, played by Betsy Wolfe, said: "When Ms. Gaul grows up, she hopes to become a dancer, a toy soldier, a reindeer, or all of the above?" The Rockettes' "Radio City Christmas Spectacular" opened last night at the Wang Theatre.
Speaking of Sarah, she has one of the funniest speeches I have heard in awhile tonight. Trying to think of the exact wording... with Britney Spears and Bush. Will update!
Rory was on tonight as Barfee (in NYC), he was excellent! It was (to my knowledge) his first time going on. At first it was strange to see a tall red head kid going on, but he won me over and was a great presence in the cast tonight. He will be on tomorrow night too!

"This thread reads like a series of White House memos." — Mister Matt
So I'm reading this playbill.com interview with James Lapine, and he says that they've had audience members at the Bee spell 'cow' wrong more than once. I remember a thread about this a while back, about an audience member who (I think?) spelled it c-a-w or something, and so what do they do after that, do they do "Goodbye" and then launch into "Pandemonium"? How does it work after the audience member spells 'cow' wrong? Playbill article
^By being in a large group of people, having never seen the show before, wearing a kooky outfit, dressing in all black, having a funny name, not being an actor, being a good speller, wearing jeans, over accesorising, having an distinct appearance, etc.
Going to see the tour in Cost Mesa tonight! Boy they are performing in the barn yard... I got a tix for rear orchestra (only $30). I hope I can move up! Updated On: 12/20/06 at 03:14 PM
I saw it the other night and have come to the conclusion that Jacqui Polk should definitely be Olive. She was so amazing, and her hair is perfect. Rory O'Malley is the best Barfee I've ever seen, and Barrett Foa is just adorable. Everyone else was wonderful.
Everyone should believe in something. I believe I'll have another drink.
