Michael Zahler is one of the nicest actors that i have met in a very long time. I emailed him and he emailed me back. Plus, at the stage door, he talked to me for about 15 minutes. He's adorable.
"Broadway is a very special place, filled with very special people, people who can sing and dance, often at the same time!
They are a different people, a multi-talented people, a people...who need people...and who are, in many ways, the
luckiest people in...the world." --Spamalot

<< Me and Norbie. I look icky becuase I was FREAAAAKKKIIINNNGG out.
Deborah and Barret were out of the show, so we had Cathryn as Marcy and Todd as Leaf. Cathryn was amazing! At first I found it hilarious that she wasn't Asian and that they gave her almond shaped glasses. She was incredible though. What a belt! Todd was just eh as Leaf. I guess after seeing Jesse and Stanley I have extremely high expectations. I bet he's better as Barfee, he seems more of that part. Lisa Howard is a wonderful Rona and I really hope she goes on to do even better things. Jose Llana was just fabulous. He has a great voice and he's an amazing actor. I mean, I loved Aaron, but this role belongs to Jose. He was riffing all throughout "Pandemonium" and it made my life. Greg Stuhr was a great Panch, and Sarah Saltzberg is amazing. I think if you put her and Sara Inbar together you would have the perfect Logainne. Derrick Baskin is just inredible. He didn't hit all of the high notes, but he still did extremely well. He really got the audience going. And then there are my two favorites, Jared Gertner as Barfee and Jessica-Snow Wilson as Olive. Jared was awesome in Boston and he's improved so much. He was perfect. I loved him. Jessica stole the show. She was the best Olive I've seen. She's got a beautiful voice and she's a great actress. I saw an Olive I have never seen before and I loved her. I love this show.
After we hung out and I met Greg, and then I saw Jared and I ran up to him and he remembered me and we chatted and he's just amazing. He's a genuinely great guy and I'm extremely happy for him and all of his success. Then I talked to Sarah Saltzberg and I told her how she ran away before and she was like, "OH MY GOSH I'M SORRY!" and I was just like, hey whatever it's cool. And we joked about how funny it was that the majority of the people who have played Logainne were named Sara(h). And then I got to talk to Jessica. She was so sweet and genuine and lovely. I just love her. It was really great.
Ok. For those of you who like reading updates about the Bee-
Jacqui was on tonight as Olive, so I went to see her. Was able to witness the funniest moment I have ever seen at Bee.
A woman was given a word. (not spelling out the word to avoid spoilers) It sounds like crapho, means bullfrog meat. She got her sentence- "Despite the absence of any actual bull frog meat, Sally's sandwich tasted like crapho." Rather than asking for clarification on how to spell the word, she just jumped right in and spelled out C-R-A-P-H-O-L-E. There were a couple seconds of silence, then the whole cast broke into hysterical laughter. Greg just said, "I think that's my favorite. But you're still wrong." I have never laughed so hard in my life. The entire cast couldn't stop laughing. Tears were flowing, it took a bit for everyone to get back under control. And most attempts to sing goodbye to this woman were lost under the all the laughter. Good times at the bee!!
Ok, I have a dumb question that I'm sure has probably been asked before but I definitely don't have time to read all 74 pages of this. lol. Where's the stage door for spelling bee? I've never gotten to see the NYC cast, just the Chicago cast, so I'd love to meet them afterwards. I'm seeing the show this Sunday. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
If I've heard correctly, the entire cast (except for the actor playing Barfee) is being replaced with the Boston cast. I'm sure Liotte knows more details.
