I saw the show for the 5th time on Thursday night (twice Off-Broadway, third time on). The cast was at their brilliant best. John Freakin' Fantastic Gallagher Jr. had BETTER win the Tony come Spring. I saw CURTAINS last week, and after everyone was making such a fuss about Edward Hibbert, I found his performance to be absolutely repulsive. Jason Daniely might get a nomination, but it's certainly not a winning role. Also, when I saw SA this Thursday, I stage-doored the show for the first time. I had always put it off saying I'd come back and do it another time. John Gallagher Jr. is the nicest person in the world. YEEHAW SA!

The new swing was watching from the stage seats (odd numbers) at yesterday's matinee. I haven't seen the show since the first week of previews and I finally got to go back yesterday and sit on stage. We had Frances on for the Adult Women. She wasn't bad...and Jen Damiano was on as Martha. She did a great job with "the dark I know well".
wow i havent been here in a while. even though i think that Christine is fantastic as the Adult Woman, i would love to see Frances performe. Hopefully I will get the chance to see her. I have seen Christine three times, so it would be great to see a little change.
Frances was on for the Adult Women along with Jen on for Martha when I saw the show on Thursday. At first I was kind of sad to see that Christine Estabrook wouldn't be on because I think she's wonderful, but Frances was really fantastic. She totally was a convincing adult on stage, and then when I saw her at the stage door I realized that she actually looks really young in person. Of course I prefer Christine, but if you do get Frances, don't fret. She does the roles justice. Jen was a total pro as Martha. She didn't miss a beat.

Okay, so I finally saw Spring Awakening last thursday night. I found it immensly enjoyable, the music and the acting were insanely powerful. I was amazed at the talent of the kids. Also the end of the first act was wicked hot. I loved the choreography it was very different then a typical broadway show. It's like they used the stage as a big jungle gym. I had bought the soundtrack to the show prior to seeing it. Now, it's as though each song has a completly different meaning to it. Especially, the dark i know well. I had no idea what that song was about until I saw the show. Okay so after the show, I luckily got to meet the cast and have them sign my poster. They were so nice. All of them just loved doing it. The best encounter was with Johnathan Gallagher Jr. First he asked where I was from, so I told him Vegas. Then he said he liked my jacket and proceded to touch it. pretty cool I told him he was "F****** amazing" and after saying thank you. I also told him to go get his Tony. He said "naw" I said "Dude, you get your F****** Tony." He then told me and I qoute " Dude, that is one of the sweetest things anyone has said to me. I am going to take that and put it under my pillow tonight." I thought it was pretty awesome. Definitly something I will remember when he does get his Tony.
This is quite random but I have a question for you all. You know how some of the music & lyrics are different in the show & in the cast recording? Well I heard that "one of the producers of the show said they might fix everything in a second printing of the cast album." (Youtube). Well apparently the cast recording has already been reprinted. I checked out iTunes & try to preview it, but w/ the clips that were given, I couldn't really tell if there were any changes. Does anybody have any info on this topic?

I saw Frances for the second time this Saturday and I liked her much better than the first time I saw her. I really like how she plays it real, whereas Christine is more over the top and comedic. Frances plays it serious and I think it's a really effective way to portray the character. Both she and Christine are great and they're both very different which is wonderful.

this thread had 666 comments... so I am posting to rid the board of the number.
Id love to see this show.

Saw it a second time last night...with my mother this time, who adored Gallagher's perfomance.
I enjoy Christine's performance over Frances'. Frances was not as over the top, and felt sort of young for the role. She is by not stretch terrible as some of you are making her out to be. And I did prefer Frances' takes on certain of the Adult Women sketches over that of Christine's, but I felt that she didn't hit it with the opening scene with Wendla.
It was fun to see Jennifer Damiano in for Lilli Cooper. She has a lovely voice--but I missed the rich quality that Lilli brings to the Mama Who Bore Me Reprise melodies and the Dark I Know Well.
I was really bummed that Remy rushed over the "He's a radical" line. It's by far my favorite line by her character.
The beating scene felt more real. But now I'm confused about how it's staged, because it was different than last time. Perhaps it's due to the perspective.
The hayloft scene in less graphic from house left...or is it?
It was nice to see all of Lea's entrances off the mainstage behind the bars of the onstage audience, and Krysta working it.
Groff didn't spit during the Song of Purple Summer!

The beating scene felt more real. But now I'm confused about how it's staged, because it was different than last time. Perhaps it's due to the perspective. I was onstage in a seat that had a good rear/side view of this scene (same seat both times), both in January and again in March. It looked the same to me, except that I did notice that in January, he actually did hit her (though very lightly) sometimes, but in March the stick never touched her.
