This should probably have been posted over in the Grosses thread where a conversation is going on about tourism as opposed to starting another thread. JMO

If Broadway made it through COVID, it can push past most any challenge that stands in its way (even if it may take some time).

We’ll survive this, and set new record numbers before you know it.

Now we’re policing what other people should post about and where?

NY Tourism is integral to Broadway and off-Broadway ticket sales. This subject and article is very much ON topic.

They can post all they want about him and his issues on the OT board! Go nuts over there. But not here.

“So, a thread should be started every time he does something?”

This isn’t a post about him making an AI image of himself as Pope -  It’s directly relevant to this specific industry, and anyone with an education beyond the eighth grade understands that. If your heart can’t handle it, simply don’t open the thread and move on. There is no requirement for you to read every thread. You are the person with the problem, and you have the power to avoid it. Act like you’ve been out in the world before. It’s that simple.

You consistently love to get on a soapbox and decide what people can or cannot post, when they can post it, how they post it - you desperately need to get a grip. Nobody cares. You are not in charge of the board nor its members. You are as dense and delusional as they come if you think anyone here looks to you for authority or guidance on any topic whatsoever. Go inside and feed the cats, Edie.

Exactly because here's the thing: The Violent Rapist is never going to stop f*cking with anyone and everyone that did not vote for him. So, articles will come out weekly (daily?) of him trying to do something. So, a thread should be started every time he does something? The main board will be half about him which is exactly what he wants. Like post everything about him on the off topic board and every single article and horrible thing he does can be in one place if people continue to be interested in him until he gets shot in the face, of course.
"

I hate Trump, but I remember a day when this kind of language would get removed by the moderators. I’m sure my post will get removed instead because we all know Sutton cries to moderators every single time someone calls her out on the nonsense. But this is not language appropriate for a theater chat board. The OP is more on topic than you talking about him getting shot.

Not to mention all the people cancelling flights into Newark, a major gateway to NYC and Broadway.  It’s not pretty.

Yup, contrary to popular belief, America’s Sweetheart does not get to dictate what gets posted, and where. Shocker, I know.

Y’all need to chill. It really doesn’t matter if someone starts a new thread: just ignore it. I personally have ignored Trump threads but clicked on this because of the NY Times article only to read a vitriol pile-on.

This place has gotten toxic…far worse than before.

I'm an anomaly, in that I have trips to the US booked.  I got a lecture from one lady at work after I mentioned booking a trip to Las Vegas, so now at work I try not to talk about my plans.

Another co-worker who is a big Seahawks & Mariners fan - I think he had Seahawks season tickets - drove down to Seattle for an extra long weekend 2 weeks ago.  He said every single car was stopped for secondary screening, and they looked through everything on the pretense of searching for fetanyl.

Also a few weeks ago there were news stories about road blocks a couple miles from the border stopping people on their return to Canada, & making extra checks by US authorities.

It is so crazy, because upon entering border guards can see right away your visit history.  They would have seen that my co-worker goes down all the time for Seahawks and Mariners games.

This just is making more people quit traveling  and is only going to hurt the US economy- especially small businesses like the article mentions.

But even big companies are being hit.  This summer many of the resorts & hotels in Las Vegas are trying different promos to bring people in.  I don't even gamble, & MGM is sending me offers for 2 free shows with a stay.  Things look to be bad for some properties,  with news yesterday that Fontainebleau laid off a whole wack of dealers.

I love how this board is absolutely dead 99% of the time, and aside from LuPone’s recent scuffle with cry babies, or the many absences of Hilty and Simard, there is rarely much participation on the regular.

Let folks post. Who cares?

Something about your post prompted me to post this crazy story.

I think I maybe mentioned this in another thread but going to London a few weeks ago, the flight was oversold. Coming back, it was only a handful of people. I spoke to the flight attendant who told me flights to the States are mostly like that now. Looking at my upcoming flights to/from The UK it appears to be the same, as of right now.

I have to say that I tried to book a last minute trip down to see a client this week (and hopefully catch a show!) and the hotel prices seemed to be very high/typical summer. I often stay at the Virgin Hotel and it was nearly double what it cost me just around 2 months ago. So there must be some tourists in town?

Looking at Travelocity, Times Square hotels are under $200 a night for July 4th week. Thats insane.
