Stagedoor Manor is amazing. I went last summer. A lot of movie/television/broadway actors have come out of there. It's located in Loch Sheldrake, NY. The website is www.stagedormanor.com

US Performing Arts Camp. I don't know the website offhand but it's based out of The Kennedy Center and there are various camps at different college campuses around the US.
stagedoor manor is insanely expensive

*wants to go to Stage Door Manor really badly but is too expensive for her mother*
Stagedoor Manor is expensive, but worth it from what I hear. My friend went last summer (maybe you know her, tinydancer), was in Jekyll & Hyde, and couldn't stop talking about it. She's extremely talented, so I'm guessing it's quality.

I'll support the suggestion of Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Training Center as a parent of someone who attended for eight summers (she was in Jekyll and Hyde this past summer in fact, I guess with your friend....my daughter played Lucy). It is an amazing program for those who want a theater intensive. It combines training in all aspects of theater, plus puts on 36 full scale productions per summer. It has had a significant impact on my daughter's life. I highly recommend Stagedoor.
French Woods Festival IS known for theater, unlike what someone else posted. I also have a daughter who went there for four years. Stagedoor Manor JUST does theater. French Woods Festival has as much theater as Stagedoor but it also has a full array of every other activity under the sun, plus a music program and circus program.
Any one know of any around central NJ or NYC that are good but not insanely expensive? I've done Westminster Choir College the past three summers, all around $1000 each summer. It was also only a week. I'd be interested in something that isn't too long, and thus not too expensive, but would be beneficial.
Someone had said something about US Performing Arts Camp. I looked up that, and it looked pretty good - any more feedback?
Thanks!

I give another thumbs up to US Performing Arts Camp. Susan Egan spent the day coaching us one year.

The Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ has a 4-5 week Summer Musical theater Conservatory. Depending on the students age, they could be taking classes at Paper Mill or on the campus of Montclair State University. From what I've heard, it is a wonderful program with EXTREMELY talented kids. They also put on a great concert at the end of the year. You do have to audition to get into this program. Check out the website for more info....

Soozie...your daughter and my friend must know each other. My friend was a Red Rat Girl, and is standing right behind your daughter in one of the pictures on the website. That's so funny.
I went to the Boston University Summer Theater Institute, which is a really good theater program where you also take music lessons. It's like college (you get college credit for it) and it's really intensive. I also went to stagedoor manor a couple years ago, which is a really good program. Haha, and my best friend Julie who went this past summer was in Jekyll and Hyde as well... small world.
I've heard of one from the School for Film and Television, but it mainly revolved around...Film and Television rather than stage acting.
Anybody know of good Canadian ones other than NMC, which I already know and love?
anyone going 2 usdan? i am, PM ME!!
