I am happy I made some of you laugh...and yes, I think I have a better Real Housewife tagline...but it will make everyone laugh too hard, so I will keep it secret for now.
I sat on orchestra row M 2, on the right side...that seat was heaven. You can see everything perfectly, you may miss a brief scene between Joe and Betty, but it's just a few seconds. I would sit on the left side of row M too...row M is perfect in the orchestra.

Saw Sunset last night. I decided to rush last minute (9:30 only 4 people on line- I couldn't resist) and was surprised that I got two. Normally I would've paid for orchestra seats but I blew my theater budget on tickets for Hamilton, Dolly, DEH and Saigon. I say all this because I've been to the Palace before but in the orchestra section not balcony where the rush tickets were located.
Arrived there with my friend and started feeling tingling in my legs, numbness in my hands and my heart started racing... the beginning of a full blown panic attack which I haven't had in over a decade. I'm pretty good with heights and I've sat in balcony seats before but the steepness of the balcony seats were too much. I thought maybe I could handle it but I was hugging the back of my seat in terror- so ridiculous. Long story short the palace was amazing I (somehow) made it down to the box office ready to purchase cancellation tickets or praying for SROs and they were able to get me front mezz. Everyone was calm and helpful and extremely lovely (usher, ticket scanner, bag checker and the lady at the box office). I'm very thankful they were so very gracious to me.
The show was brilliant and they did another auction of all the previously mentioned items. This time two robes sold for $4,000 each (one to Elvis Duran who was seated next to Darren Criss I think). Glenn Close did a fun burlesque strip tease when they threw in the gloves.
I know the chances of this are slim-to-none, but wouldn't it be amazing if they extended the run with the original Broadway takeover star from the 90s taking over once again?"
Lot666, the chances might be better than you realize.

Don't get my hopes up, 10086. I just tweeted Betty last night about her wonderful performance in the movie SPLIT, and she tweeted back an expression of thanks. She's a genuine class act, and experiencing her Norma again would be an amazing gift.
LesWickedly said: "Thanks for the responses, sort of. I would actually rather save $60 so was wondering what people think of Row M on the left orch seats 1 & 3. Pretty good? I've heard better things about Row N on the right, but sadly they're sold."
I'm sitting exactly in those seats this weekend. I'll be sure and let you know.
For what it's worth, I bought them at the box office the opening night of previews and the lady behind the window suggested them.

CT2NYC, welcome to the site and the boards!
Betty is most certainly a class act.
IF the show continues after Glenn's run, there are very few names who could play this role and sell. Buckley is one of them.
IF it continued, it would need be a short run, as the show is likely headed for LA.
IF Glenn lets anyone else near this, Buckley has a chance.

Thanks for the welcome, 10086! Recently, I've rediscovered my love of theatre after being away from it for quite some time, and I really appreciate this forum for sharing my thoughts with the community. As far as Betty is concerned, that's a lot of "ifs," but I'll keep hoping!

Do you have any special intel on this, other than the glaring gap in the Ahmanson season? I would be absolutely thrilled if I got to see Glenn Close in this - although, I was kind of hoping it would be Sunday in the Park.

May I ask what you're basing the prospect of an LA transfer on? Also, you compiled quite a list of "ifs"; is there anything of substance that's making you think any of this is more than a remote possibility?

This Ahmanson rumor has been going on for a while. It was mentioned a couple of times here, maybe even in this thread. Can't remember exactly. Besides hearing it here, I've also heard it elsewhere.

What I can say is that I've heard the situation is fluid. The Broadway run could play out a number of different ways, hence the emphasis on the "IF."

I'd love to see this happen. That the original productions were deemed "flops" by investor standards (and mostly because of poor producers more than anything else -- how does a show with a $37.5 million advance, with sell outs for over a year end up not returning its investment? Bad producers) has seemed to leave an undeserved taint on this musical. That it would have a triumphant run in London, here in NY and possibly extend and/or transfer - seems fitting for ALW at this stage in his career.

I think ALW has conceded that it wasn't the best thing for him/his company to be sole producers.

Charnjam, will do.
Like you, I'd also love to see it happen. Certainly does seem fitting for ALW at this stage in his career.
"She began working with Andrew Lloyd Webber as a keyboard player on the first national tour of Cats and hasn’t stopped since. She’s been with him from The Phantom of the Opera to Evita to The Woman in White ( 'I don’t think that was most people’s favorite, but I loved it!' )."

Ditto! Beautiful score... story isn't the greatest but... I enjoyed it two times on broadway.

I loved the story and the score, and once again find myself envious that you saw it. My apologies for careening off topic, but did you see the original cast, and were the allegedly nausea-inducing projections fixed by then?

PM-d you so as not to be accused of hijaking the thread :)
Well I really blew my Broadway budget all in one weekend. I saw Hello Dolly!, Sunset Boulevard and the City Center Encores! of New Yorkers in one weekend. Thoughts on all three shows here:

I think you basically saw the 3 best shows to see in NYC

Oh damn, if I wasn't as cheap as I am and I had more free time I'd go. LOL

Been lurking a lot on these boards but finally decided to register and in on the conversation.
I had seen the World Premiere Production in London with Patti which blew me away (two standing ovations during with one look) and saw Elaine Paige on Bway. I have the World Premier recording, American Recording and the Canadian recording.
Even though I am a HUGE Patti fan, I went with an open mind because I heard that Glenn's acting was so wonderful that she made up for not having the voice to sing the role. Boy, did I get bad advice.
I saw four shows this weekend and Sunset was the worst of the lot. I love the score and the orchestra did not disappoint. They were fabulous, so luscious, in fact the whole cast held their own except for Close. She was terrible and the only person on stage who couldn't sing. Her acting was anything to talk about either. Supposedly she had such frailty as Norma with a steel core and instead she came across as lackluster. Her ending note in "With One Look" was dreadful and woefully off key. I don't know if this performance is the same as the one she gave in the 90's cause if it was she would have never beat the only other actress up for the lead actress Tony.
I didn't mind the set or lack of a set. In the original production the house almost seemed like another character in the play while in this production the orchestra was the other character. The supporting cast was terrific most notably Joe, Betty and Max.
I sat in the stage left box. This partial view seats misses part of the New year's even party and beginning of Joe and Betty's duet in the second act.
