The entitlement of the people in that Post article. Like, just grow up.

I heard that Christopher Ashley and a team were with Pinkleton yesterday during the show. Today’s matinee was cancelled. Are they reworking this?

If Christopher Ashley is jumping in, perhaps there’s likely to be some reframing going on. I can’t imagine nixing a sold out preview performance three days ahead of time unless the entire cast was laid out sick.
Someone mentioned he did direct the last revival, so it’s possible he might be working to see how the callbacks can still be integrated into the experience in a bit more streamlined way. If someone was at tonight’s show, maybe they could tell us about their experience.

Buzzkill ‘Rocky Horror’ proves Broadway has totally lost the plot

The mention of throwable props in this is remarkably stupid. It’s a historic theatre and so I can imagine a hard line has to be drawn somewhere since endless performances filled with water guns, thrown rice and toilet paper are going to cause damage over time.
But even more ludicrous is that the writer is saying that even dressing up in costume is not welcome, and that’s a bald-assed lie. Both times I went, many people were fully dressed up in their own costumes (and looked pretty good) and nobody said anything.
While I get that the callback situation is going to be the sticking point for many, this opinion piece reads like just another Karen screed - though what did I expect from the NY Post?

In 2018 the Stratford Festival in Canada produced a fantastic production of Rocky Horror. Dressing up was encouraged, callbacks were encouraged; sometimes the house staff was involved in starting the callbacks. Dancing the Time Warp was also encouraged, especially during the finale. But because the show was being performed in a historic theater and the show was repping with three other productions they limited the props. Rice, water and tp were banned. The cell phone announcement, which was done by the narrator character encouraged callbacks, but reminded the audience to be mindful of the people around them, and not ruin the fun for everybody or block anyone's view. They handled the situation very well.

That's always been the default in Pittsburgh's Rocky Horror scene: dressing up, callbacks encouraged, but throwable props and water are either extremely limited or outright banned.

Caught this last week and thought it was a really enjoyable. My reference point for the film is next to nothing. Only went once to a Midnight Screenings when I was in high school - and grew up watching the video for Time Warp on MTV...So expectations were low.
Fully enjoyed myself. There were minimal callbacks but they all worked and the cast repsonded quite well.
Also, that cast is next level. God, I love Rachel Dratch so much.
Luke Evans is truly giving a performance for the ages here
I recall thinking that the curtain call seemed a tad messy for some reason.
Curious to what if any changes happen and if they eliminate the little to no callbacks policy.

Andrea Peyser is a pathetic low life right wing hag who can barely form a coherent sentence and should be ignored completely.

I have no problem with people coming to the theater in costume, just don't wear anything on top of your head. I'm always amazed at how oblivious and/or rude some people can be with their hats and hairstyles.

Saw the first preview and also tonight’s performance. From what I could tell, there have been no noticeable changes at all in three weeks of previews.
The biggest difference is that there were almost no callouts tonight, compared to the nonstop chaos at the first preview. Other than a few “slut” and “asshole” shouts, which were prompted by Rachel Dratch, and “say it” which was encouraged by Luke Evans, I heard nothing else all night. I don’t think that is due to any signs or website announcements. I think it’s just the show settling into a standard Broadway crowd, rather than super fans.

Was anyone expecting any? It sounded like the show was in pretty good form minus maybe some pacing issues (and I may be misremembering that last bit).

There were a number of criticisms and suggestions noted earlier in this thread, including from me, so I thought something might change. And the director has said he’d be making changes up to opening. Regardless, I think it’s pretty common for shows to make changes during previews, but it doesn’t seem this one has, at least not so far.

Does anyone know if Juliette Lewis has come out the stage door yet?
