Just noticed this in my "your upcoming performance" email from Roundabout. Guess they're trying to keep it fun for the longtime fans, but within reason for everyone else I guess? Hmmm... Wonder how many meetings they've had about this topic. haha
- Feel free to engage with the show genuinely: react, vocalize, laugh, or cry. Just please do not intentionally distract your neighbors or the artists on stage.
- Show kindness towards each other. Don't judge others’ responses, and don’t presume you know someone else's story as they experience the show.

They also have to accommodate their older subscriber base, many of whom will likely be... put off by any kind of raucous audience behavior.

Their base likely opts to not see the show, IMO. It's not like they didn't see the movie back in their younger days.

Roundabout has used this exact language for the last three years. This is not revised for Rocky Horror: they have used this exact verbiage in their know-before-you-go emails for a while.

Does anyone have any feedback on where the best locations to sit are? Orchestra vs. Mezzanine, etc.

I was in the front row of the mezzanine and the visibility was great, although I am biased as that’s my preferred place to sit.
This website is also a helpful resource but all the photos are from past shows.

I can tell you to avoid house right. I was house right 4th row for first preview and most of the bedroom scenes and all of the “monitor” were obstructed. I am disappointed because I have tickets to a two other performances from this view and they were not sold as partial or obstructed. Though far from the only disappointing aspect of this take if I’m being honest.

I’m going to be that person and ask how the stage door has been? I’d be thrilled to meet Michaela Jae. I absolutely love her work.

First preview was everyone except Rachel, Andrew, Juliette, and Amber. Juliette posted that she was sick and it looks like Amber has since first preview.
Michaela Jae was absolutely wonderful to meet. Shes one of those people who, if there wasn’t a line, would probably talk to you for hours.

I saw this last night (mezzanine row MM). I'm a general appreciator of Rocky Horror but not a devotee...and there was a lot to like in this production, but I was disappointed in it overall.
Luke Evans, Stephanie Hsu, Andrew Durand, and Amber Gray are all giving excellent performances.
The staging is sloppy. The lighting is confusing. It feels like they couldn't decide between fake low budget camp and big budget spectacle...and the space it sits in is uncomfortably between the two.
I feel a little bad because it's not bad...I just expected more from Sam Pinkleton with this property in particular.
I wanted an unadulterated dose of queer joy (like I got from Jellicle Ball) and instead felt like I'd seen a pretty decent shadow cast.

If I go back (which isn't unlikely), I've got a planned callback for the end of Once in a While:
"Now let's go rob that motherf*cking train."

Pittsburgh is a BIG Rocky Horror live town with stage productions running anually for over twenty years. Some of my favorite callbacks are in Once in a While.
"Hey Brad, how often do you get a boner, just... generally speaking?" (Once in a while...)
"And how often have you made Janet come?" (And once in your life...)

There’s a sign in the lobby now that says
“IT'S LIVE THEATER,
NOT A MOVIE
SO LISTEN CLOSELY
KEEP CONTROL
AND ENJOY THE SHOW
…OR ELSE!”
and I just don’t know how to feel about this.

This is really ridiculous, IMO. Why do a show that has a callout culture ingrained in it that you don't want done? Especially after the last revival Embraced it. Very weird, and really makes me want to sell my tickets.

I've heard that callouts are now actively discouraged and the production was really not prepared for the response they got at the first few performances.

The callbacks with the movie are crazy. They don’t shut up
The revival back then was so respectful. A shout here and there and it made the audience laugh.

Maybe I'm misremembering but I thought the last revival were able to manage the callouts so while they weren't discouraged, they knew how to manage the audience so they didn't do it to an obnoxious degree.

I'm fine with that. Especially given how out of control the callouts were at first preview. Don't go overboard. It's obnoxious if you're calling out every single line. Go to a midnight screening for that.

Are there any discounts currently available? Doesn't look like Roundabout is offering rush or lottery tickets at this time.

They’re doing rush.
And no judgement to the folks saying the callbacks were “out of control” at the first preview but - they were not. There was so much less shouting out than I ever expected. It was VERY TAME.

So don't go.
I think this is , considering how audiences are nowadays, perfect.

I wish every other show that wasn’t known world-wide for its audience participation took the steps this show is taking, to make sure their audience shuts up.

I can only speak to Pittsburgh Rocky culture: the callbacks come fast and furious, with almost every other line or bit of business having one. But there's a rhythm to it, a give and take that the actors and direction are aware of, and an ability to push BACK against the audience if they get too hectic or disruptive.
Even things like neck jokes: it's been customary for YEARS that an interactive Narrator will berate the audience for making hackneyed neck jokes that don't make sense. Dick Cavett did it, most of the British/Aussie/NZ narrators in "Still the Beast is Feeding" had stock lines to respond to the neck thing, etc. (Hell, as the Narrator I've more than once wandered into the house and dumped my brandy glass on someone who was more interested in being rowdy and disruptive than being fun and collaborative.)

Thank you! Just discovered they're doing an in-person rush and a TodayTix lottery. I couldn't find anything posted on Roundabout's site or the pretty extensive Playbill rush guide (which does have Fallen Angels listed).

A production of Rocky Horror should be messy and rowdy and opulent. This sounds like your Grandma's Rocky Horror. LAME.
