There are a few things like the inclusion of the field mice and Glinda being the good witch of the South as she is in the book but other than that I'm not sure.

I don't see why people are talking about this months ahead. These costumes are ok but they aren't going to save a terrible show. I saw the original and it was awful. I saw the movie and it was awful. What makes anyone think that this dated, weird take on The Wizard of Oz is going to work on TV?
And all this hype is just insane.
"
Well guess what buddy...This show is NOT FOR YOU, If it doesn't speak to your vibrations, keep it moving. Melanated people do not have many musicals and many have never seen a Broadway musical.
Goes back to the movie, The white audiences may not have liked the film, But the blacks, WE LOVE IT and this will be the highest rated show since NBC started gifting these shows. COME BACK WHEN THE RATING ARE POSTED lmao
AH! This is so great! Goes to show you shouldn't overreact when they release info on these shows...I did just that when they said the costumes would be more contemporary but they look AMAZING. And I actually LOVE Dorothy's new look!! Dec. 3 literally cannot come fast enough!

Meh, it looks like a standard TV movie poster. It does its job. I mean, I wasn't really expecting some cool, completely original, high concept Broadway style window card or anything.
I agree that the character make-up and costumes look a little frightening whether intentionally or unintentionally. The poster would look better if they weren't all screaming.
EASE ON DOWN THE ROAD TO THE TOILET would have been a much more suitable phrase to use. What an ugly poster. Hideous...Just by looking at that terrifying crow or whatever he's supposed to be makes me wanna go, so excuse me
I wonder if they will do a studio album ala TSOML or an actual soundtrack recorded from the live Broadcast? If there was a studio album it probably would have already been recorded, and co word has been said.
I'm also wondering if they'll give any indication before the broadcast on what the songset will be (as the advance studio album might). I'd be really curious to hear what numbers they're using, because although much has indicated they're staying close to the OBC score other sources clearly indicate not 100%. So how much??

Well that is just a matter of opinion. I saw the original stage version 3 times and loved it. When it comes down to it, in my opinion, whether it is The Wiz or Wicked it is still the Wizard of Oz which, for me, is never dated. And this terrible show had a nice run on Broadway.
What a uniquely awful poster. If you literally typed the same words in Times New Roman on a white piece of paper, it would look more professional. I hate hate hate The Wiz and its stupid reason for existing and the fact that it was not left to die in the 70's. Do we still talk about the musical Platinum? Or Two Gentlemen of Verona? Then why The Wiz?
The one production I saw sounded like a minstrel show. To me it felt like a very clear example of blacksploitation. Maybe it's great if the actors actually give performances, though I really don't like the music.
See the one production I saw knocked my socks off. I was blown away by the electric arrangements and the oh-so-1975 vintage sound (one reason why I'm weary about the "modernization" aspect).
Blacksploitation is an interesting term to apply to it, I kinda see your point. Though I'm not sure I agree that it's a clear connection. Minstrel show I think is putting it a bit harsh!
