Whoa. I wasn’t expecting this, has it been poorly sold in recent weeks?
This carved out a nice little run for itself, it’ll be missed.

Might Jellicle Ball work in this space?
I’m not sure how the space would be in terms of backstage room. I’m sure they can easily reconfigure the seating.
I wonder if they’ll ever bring the realized production back to LA. It doesn’t seem like it’s doing a traditional touring production, but working with regional theatres to present the show. Maybe CTG can put it on in the Mark Taper Forum.

this is still heavily discounted on Today Tix ($61 tickets) for anyone looking to go back one more time

That's such a shame, it's doing incredibly well here in London and is extending.

I've heard even after three years they haven't recouped. It's tough out here. Love the show.

Also weird considering this show just won a Olivier award, this def feels like where CATS is headed and they are being pushed out for it
I would be surprised if they don't "extend" due to overwhelming demand until the end of summer
This was so much fun, I wish them all the luck in London and beyond.
A production also opens in Paris April 24 & currently scheduled to run through June. They will perform in English with projected surtitiles.
This should run forever in my eyes.
Sad for this to come right on the heels of their big Olivier win. Any chance of Marla coming back to finish out the run?

Cats is vying for Broadway not Off.

actually I’ve heard from sources inside the production that Broadway is now completely off the table and are now looking at a commercial off-Broadway run. Their options were either the Orpheum or the Daryl Roth. And having seen the show myself at PAC, it makes more sense for it to be in the later venue
I have a really hard time seeing “Cats” at the Orpheum with how it’s set up without the theater receiving a (much needed) complete and total renovation
The Orpheum is far too narrow for Jellicle Ball. They would have to give up a pretty large percentage of seating
They wouldn’t be able to use the mezz at all since you’d never be able to see anything from up there

Sad about Titanique; it will be missed, but with so much discounting the last six months, it was inevitable.
Jellical Ball had a cast (including understudies) in the mid-twenties and a band of eight. There is no way it's going into a venue with fewer than 500 seats without a dramatic slimming down. The math would not math.

That's my thinking. Even the Orpheum feels small for it at 347 seats.
Stage 42 could MAYBE work if Shubert lets them rip out 5-10 rows.
It would really benefit from a custom space. A big warehouse with not-scary bathrooms + a backstage.
Broadway run possible in a small theater? If not, this should do well in smaller regional theaters.

I think DISASTER showed us that some shows are not made for Broadway.
It can always come back for a return Off-Bway engagement like HEATHERS is doing.
