It's the biggest female part. She sings, "How Many Stars," and I can't remember the names of the others. I have to go see Ayesha Dakhar's last performance on Sun.
I'm glad someone posted here, I thought I was making it up when I was reading it this morning.
Um, interesting...

"Dreams, I've lived within my dreams now it seems I've awakened and they're real, pinch and feel. If one day I walk upon this stage from these wings and play underneath this dome, and if I sing with all my heart, I'll be home"
Yay!!! I can;t control my excitement. I was debating whether to see this or not, but I LOVE TAMYRA!!!! I have to see it. I have heard the show was a very fun one, but I wasn't ever convinced. Tamyra will be amazing and this will just start a career that needs a good boost. Can't wait!!!

"if Tamyra is Jam...and kelly is Jelly that makes Justin in the Middle being Peanut butter basically! Jam and Jelly both go with Peanut butter! LOL>> hahahahaha
only idol fans will get this! LOL>>>"
Um, okay...and I'm an AI fan.
"We like to snark around here. Sometimes we actually talk about theater...but we try not to let that get in our way." - dramamama611
i hope that when tamyra does this show she will be invited on the new york daily talk shows likethe"today show" ,"regis and kelly" and others to promote the show and maybe perform a song from the show to let people know how good she is and bring more people in.
I think it's alright for Tamyra to play this character eventhough it's an Indian play because I don't think her character deals with any issues that are only I ndian issues. Also she is an amazing talent and we need more amazing singers on broadway like Tamyra instead of just mediocre singers. I know her addition to the show will bring a small boost in attendance and hopefully it will bring a lareger boost later. I'm also hoping it will get other Broadway producers to consider her for other shows.
First off, TODAY IS AYESHA DHARKER'S LAST DAY!!! Damn, that sucks. I was going yesterday afternoon, but I had to work. Loves her! (But at least my parent's loved the show in my place.)
I'm actually very excited to see Tamyra. She was always the best singer of the three seasons of AI. I have to go get her CD, I forgot she had one out...but so did everyone else, unfortunately. (It's a joke, AI fans. Stay calm.)
As for casting, we've seen that most non-white roles have been interchangeable between "darker" races, from Vanessa Williams in Bye Bye Birdie and Kiss of the Spider Woman, to the talks of Janet replacing Ayesha and the mixed casting of Italian, latino and black folks in Lion King, Fiddler, Aida and Bombay Dreams. I think it's great! Let's face it, if we didn't have it, us minorities would never get on Broadway.
Priya, the character Tamyra will play, is the female lead. She sings a part of Loves Never Easy, duets in How Many Stars, and solos in Is This Love. I can't wait to hear her in How Many Stars, a song which is pretty tough to get through live.
"Hey little girls, look at all the men in shiny shirts and no wives!" - Jackie Hoffman, Xanadu, 19 Feb 2008
it is unfortunate that most people do not know she has an album out . that blame goes to her record company "19 records" who thought all they had to do is put her on a couple episodes of idol when the album came out and not even release a single to radio untill over a month after it was released . record stores did not get enough of a shipment when it was released either. hopefully enough people will see her in "bombay dreams" and realize what a great talent tamyra gray is an go out and buy her album "the dreamer"
3 weeks from today is when tamyra starts her show in "bombay dreams" . i am sure she will be incredible.usa today mentioned in their lifeline section today .
