So, Mandy's last would be 1/30 then?

"I agree. If I am not mistaken Teal had major vocal issues causing her to miss many performances"

It must have healed by now since she has not playhed the role in almost a year and if she's willing to play the part again.

Who is to say she won't have the same issues all over again? Elphaba isn't the easiest vocal role. We shall see how it turns out. I know I have no desire to see her in the role. I do wish her plenty of luck though!

I'm very excited for Kyle Dean, but extremely disappointed about Teal. Her voice completely crapped out on her during both of her previous runs. Though her voice has probably healed by now, it's just going to get ruined once more. What a shame.

I just don't get what David Stone and his team are thinking. There are thousands and thousands of New York actresses who are likely dying for a shot to play this role. Yet we get some recycled actress who couldn't handle it in the past. I think it's very clear that they are trying to go for the cheapest option. They went the right path with Mandy, a NYC actress who has originated three roles on Broadway, and has a growing resume. But now it's back to the same old boring recycling game.

I also agree with ljay. There's no reason the flagship production can't cast a more exciting actress than Teal Wicks.

It must have healed by now since she has not playhed the role in almost a year and if she's willing to play the part again.

She's willing to play the role again because she hasn't worked since leaving the role in SF. It's not like she's an in demand actress. And just because her voice "healed" doesn't mean it won't become damaged again the minute she steps back in to this difficult role. I give her about 3 weeks before she starts frequently calling out (although ironically, last time, it didn't even take that long...she called out of the first preview in SF!)

Between she and the often absent Katie Rose Clarke, the standbys will be quite busy over at the Gershwin. Fortunately, both Jennifer DiNoia and Laura Woyasz are excellent.

Pardon me if the answer to this question is obvious, but do they recycle Elphabas and Glindas because they already know the material and require less rehearsal time? It seems to me that they could take a chance on a younger actress and pay them less.

I'm excited for Kyle Dean, I may try lotto to see him. But why does Wicked continue to insist on recycling actresses? There are so many young women in New York who I'm sure would kill for a chance to do this show, I don't understand why they keep recasting people, many of whom weren't even very good in the past. Mandy Gonzalez was wonderful, I wish they would continue to go in that direction with casting these roles.
