That sweaty person!

Ok I’m very late to the party and somehow he’s been popping up on my feeds as late, why is he a shouting angry person. I tired to watch two things, one about The Lost Boys and one about well I couldn’t get past the first six words. I’m at a loss.

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

I, too, am late to the party. I always saw posts mentioning him as the source and didn't know what/who that was. I muted him on all my socials because I don't enjoy his delivery. Anything notable said quickly gets posted to social media, so I don't feel like I'm missing out. That being said, people who dismiss his gossip all the time BECAUSE he's unenjoyable are often coping. He's right more often than he's wrong.

I don't follow him, I don't use Tiktok, and never saw his videos before. I only know of him from being mentioned on here. However in the past week his videos have been showing up in my Facebook reels. Ugh.

I don't have TikTok, but his garbage pops up on IG and I block whatever account is sharing his garbage.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I feel like you all have got to know that by not revealing who "that sweaty person" is, you've increased interest in him.

Your posts have painted a picture of a guy who seems like a real trainwreck. Few can resist investigating/gawking at a trainwreck.

Isn't that common knowledge?

He used to mostly leak info about casting, production announcements, etc., but has recently started acting as some sort of self-appointed moral compass for Broadway a la OnStage Blog and it’s really obnoxious. His hot takes like “Jellicle Ball lost the Tony because of racism and transphobia” are not “tea,” they are attention-seeking, rage bait nonsense. I used to enjoy him but not so much anymore.

He's a miserable, low life wannabe who chases social media clout. He's truly a gross individual, and should be avoided at all costs. He's the taint of the theatre community.

The leaking info was fine I guess. Whatever.

He screams about Scott Rudin and anyone that works with him abhorrent. But then he goes and sees DOAS “because he got a free ticket”

He has said before, he loved Ragtime until it became trendy to not love Ragtime. I also find it interesting the loudest people criticizing Ragtime are white. I saw a very nuanced and eye opening talk back with the black cast members in the show both previously and currently and yet, not one person has referenced that. Nor probably watched it.

And for whatever reason he has been on a mission to bring down The Lost Boys since the fall. And now is salivating over Ali’s speech.

The guy has no skin in this game. He is mean spirited at best and at worst he is the white savior hypocrite he appears to go after. Either get in the goddamn arena of don’t. But posting TikTok’s is not courage, especially when you’re off to the “evil Broadway” you claim to hate right after you get off your soap box.

That Lost Boys one came across as someone who got banned from the production. I didn’t finish it because of all the angry shouting ( which seems to be his thing ) but one thing is for sure. He’s unwatchable.

He’s pathetic.

Remember when he was flat out panhandling for people to give him money to move to New York? Sad.

I have no real reason to defend him, but I love Sweaty Oracle. He is the Perez Hilton/Deux Moi of Broadway. He lets Broadway fans in on major news before it drops (and yes, is often right), and he has actual morals which he sticks to and promotes, and he refuses to be paid off. He may have strong opinions, but he backs them up. He is incredibly political and liberal. He's gossipy, but so is the theater community, and gossip is fun. The hate for him is so ridiculous.

Broken clocks are still right twice a day. Last I checked, people weren’t exactly endeared to Perez Hilton either. The way you write your post makes it sounds like you are him.

The problem is that there are far too many voices who don’t have skin in the game and yet want to feel important because they are shouting into a webcam. Broadway is a hard enough industry as is and to have some random cue-ball running his mouth about shows and people because he wants peoples’ attention only hurts.

I prefer watching someone like MickeyJoTheatre who, while he dabbles in drama (when it necessitates it), is often very thoughtful and articulate in his content. I abhor most theatre influencers with only a small handful I like.

I can understand disliking Sweaty Oracle, but its a bit wild to use Mickey Joe Theatre as a positive example 🤣

Sweaty Oracle blocked me years ago. I'm sure because I can be terribly, obnoxiously forthright with young influencers whose opinions I heartily disagree with. So good on him for blocking me. Fair.

As for Mickey Jo, he is very smart and has a really good eye ... except he panders. I consider myself the wokest woke whoever woked, but a lot of times he is so influenced by political correctness it drives me nuts. Going out of his way to ignore Scott Rudin production is kind of self indulgent for someone who fancies themselves a theater critic who travels to New York from London to see and review major productions. And he can be a good critic ... except when he's isn't. And does what a lot of young theater influences do: Holding up really mediocre productions for whatever reasons. When he knows better. This lowers our standards bit by bit. He will call out Rudin, but refuses to call out certain bad productions or producers when doing his "commentator thing". I assume because he gets free tickets and doesn't want to upset the apple cart. At least Sweaty goes there consistently. And just wait until Rudin starts casting amazing people in Sondheim productions. Will Mickey become a hypocrite then? I'm pretty sure he will.

Personally I dont think MJT is that smart at all, just another theatre fan with an opinion. No different to anyone else on these forums honestly.

He drags his videos out way beyond the length they need to be, so he can get that ad revenue in while he rambles on. He's also very biased with his clear favourite performers and creatives, and will suck up based on whatever he can get out it.

Also having seen him in the wild in a theatre, he has an inflated sense of entitlement/own self importance.

He definitely isn't as gossipy and click baity as SO, but I think he's just as problematic but in different ways

I've been saying this guy was scum since his tone-deaf row with Kennedy Kanagawa, which never picked up much traction on these boards. I have him blocked on every outlet possible. If anyone reposts him, I block them too. He could be right a million times, he still doesn't deserve the attention he gets. He is a genuinely terrible person.

MJT has good things to say and is not mean spirited like Sweaty Oracle.

His opinions may not align with another but I think he has a strong opinion and is indeed "smart" by whatever metric is being used.  To say he's not is questionable in general.

Wow, just knew someone would accuse me of being him. Such a stupid response.

Anyway "Broadway is a hard enough industry as is". Okay??? So why are producers insisting on bringing poorly written **** to Broadway, half of it adapted from existing IPs, with singers who can't act or deliver a line of dialogue truthfully to save their lives in the leads? The standards are non-existent on Broadway now and the producers who throw their money behind these shows have no reason to worry about going broke. Yes, there are artists living paycheck to paycheck who make their money in the theater and I want for all of them (even the bad ones, re:above!) to be in long running shows that help them afford the way too expensive city we live in. But it being a business doesn't negate that it's also an art form and that art form is halfway down the drain. The issue isn't some random guy on TikTok who doesn't even have that big of a following.

Voter: “The issue isn't some random guy on TikTok who doesn't even have that big of a following."

The person you’re responding to was saying people like him only hurt the industry, that is already struggling, not that he is the sole issue or source.

“I have no reason to defend him” - except your self proclaimed love for him in the same sentence? Some self awareness would do you wonders.

I didn't think this might be sweaty's account until now because I've seen Voter posting before SO got popular, but...

First off, there's like 10 different users named "Voter" because it's one of the usernames BWW assigns automatically if you don't pick one. Second off, no one can like SO without being him? He has followers. This board is so moronic sometimes.
