TWSFan4Ever- I think what somethingwicked's trying to say is that it's somewhat odd that you are posting in an apprecaition thread for a show you've yet to see. all the matieral that we've gotten from the show is one or two demo songs, and about five minutes of clips. You can still like what you've seen and all, but you haven't seen it yet, so for all you know you may hate it.
And frankly, I think it's very hypocritical of you to love the show so much based on the limited amount of material we've seen/heard, and then telling all thoses not enthused by those songs/clips, that they have to see it before they judge it.
Just my $.02
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
But, see, that's my point. You really can't tell you are going to like something until you see it, or at least hear the cast recording.
Example: Before I went to see the tour of DR. Doolittle, I knew the stiry, had seen pieces of the movie, and knew and enjoyed the song "Talk to the Animals". I thought the show would be enjoyable until I saw. I disliked it so much I wanted to leave at intermission (and ufortunately it didn't get much better in Act 2).
So, what I'm saying is, that you can say you love what you've heard/seen so far, but don't proclaim you love for the whole show just yet. And vice.versa, don't diss those who haven't liked what they've seen and heard.
Whenever you get a chance to see the show, I hope it lives up to your expectations.

ok, i just wanted to say that although I don't have high expectations for this show, I cannot wait to see Richard and Orfeh! I'm glad that the show has received great reviews so far and I can't wait to see it. Does anyone know if this will have rush in NY yet or no? I need to know how much to save so I can see it next month. haha.
The Palace traditionally does $25 seats in their balcony. However, their balcony is NOSEBLEED. It is the highest and scariest place I have ever sat in. As a warning....
And apparently, Richard hosted the broadway.com opening night video. Hope that's true - that would be great!

Okay can someone in the know explain to me how understudies are selected for a new show (or revival)? When they do the initial casting of the ensemble, are they also auditioning them to cover certain roles, or did they cast the entire show first and then determine who will cover what from the pool of actors they have? I just don’t get why some people are covering two roles in Legally Blonde, while others cover one, and others cover none. And I find it bizarre that Andy Karl is a double cover for Callahan and Emmett considering the age difference in those two roles. Callahan should be old enough to be Emmett’s father. Why did they give Andy two roles to cover when they could have cast one of the other guys the Emmett cover? And Gaelen Gilliland is covering Paulette and Vivieene, which also seems like an odd combination.
ETA: And Beth Curry is covering Brooke, Pilar and Margot. Why three roles? Updated On: 2/9/07 at 06:58 PM
carymetorent2, who are the first covers for Elle, Paulette, and Vivienne?
I'd assume Becky Gulsvig is first in line for Elle, Tracy Jai Edwards first for Vivienne, and Gaelen Gilliland first for Paulette?
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
So bummed out I don't get to go see it!! I grew up in the SF Bay Area and if I was still there instead of darn Los Angeles I would be going. I'm sooo glad it's getting such fantabulous reviews though =)
The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return
PARISinNYC, if I'm not mistaking, all the songs from when previews started are still in the show. From what I hear though, they cut down "Blood in Water" a tad bit.
The complete list of musical numbers are: ACT ONE "Omigod You Guys" "Serious" "Daughter of Delta Nu" "What You Want" "The Harvard Variations" "Blood in the Water" "Love and War" "Ireland" "Ireland" (Reprise) "Serious" (Reprise) "Chip On My Shoulder" "So Much Better"
ACT TWO: "Whipped Into Shape" "Take it Like a Man" "Bend and Snap" "There! Right There!" "Legally Blonde" "Legally Blonde Remix" "Omigod You Guys" (Reprise) "Find My Way/Finale" "Omigod You Guys" (Reprise)
I don't actually know all the first covers. I just know Andy because we discussed him going on as Callahan because I voiced that I would love to see him do the role.
I would assume Becky is first cover for Elle and I can't wait to see her in the role. I loved her when I saw her as Amber in "Hairspray." Besides, Annaleigh Ashford is the other cover listed for Elle and I doubt they would move her up before putting on Becky, since she has a strong role as it is.
Noah Weisberg is the other cover for Emmett, which I would also love to see...well after Andy, of course. I have yet to see Noah take on anything meaty and I am curious to see him stretch his wings.
Likewise, I would assume Gaelen is first cover before Amber Efe although I would love to see both of them do it. I think a black Paulette would be an interesting and funny twist and Amber Efe (from what I could hear when she sings her lines in the first song) has a crazy voice. Gaelen is hilarious as Elle's mom and I could see her being a great Paulette.
The one understudy I can't really guess at is Warner, who is covered by Jason Gillman and Matthew Risch. I know Matthew is the other half of the couple in "There! Right There!" but other than that, I don't really know much of either of them.
Since I assume Gaelen is first cover for Paulette, that would put Tracy Jai as first cover for Vivienne. I am a big fan of Tracy Jai Edwards and I could see her being a fantastic Vivienne, plus she definitely looks hte part.
Beth Curry and MIchelle Kittrell cover Brooke. I don't know who is first cover and have no idea, although I would think maybe Michelle got it...she is the dance captain though so I don't know if that boosts her up to first cover or if she takes second cover because she has so much on her plate.
