I really wish I lived closer to NY. Nothing makes me happier than B'way theatre. I was having such a good couple weeks, but now I'm overwhelmed with personal crap. And thinking of Patti and the gang being on stage at this very moment, makes me sad.
Same. I love Chicago to death, but it's too far from NYC. And Patti.
Yes, but you get Gypsy at Ravinia. Those of us down south get nothing.

Yeah, I'm in South Florida...going to see Patti is quite expensive, but worth it. I'm seeing Sweeney one week from today, hooray! And then we're crazy and driving 21 hours to see Gypsy. She's doing a concert in Key West in January, so I'm excited for that. It's 3 hours from me.
I'm moving to New York in January, and I can't wait...

I'm in TN and have totally exceeded my funds going to NYC. I'm going to be there July 23rd- Aug 2nd (?). Almost 2 weeks. But Patti is worth it.
I'm seriously considering her FL show in January.

Ugh. I'm in Missouri. On the Missouri/Kansas border. I hope to get up to NYC sometime this summer (hopefully again before Sweeney - dare I say it - closes.) But we'll just have to see how things go.
As far as movies that she's in, I haven't really seen many of them. I have seen the Summer of Sam you guys are talking about though, and I completely hear you on the "I should look away... but I just can't!"

with all the confusion about her schedule/contract/whatever, looks like i'll have just missed her. thank god i went to check her updated calendar before i bought more than ONE ticket that week!
"Please note: Patti will not be performing in Sweeney Todd from July 25-August 15, 2006 for rehearsals and performances of "Gypsy" at Ravinia"
now: to sell or not to sell my ticket for the 25th? i'll probably go and try to have an open mind. it'll be so hard, though!! and damnit, i was gonna give Patti roses at curtain call!! >.<
I saw Judy Kaye on Wednesday and she was spectacular. You won't be disappointed by her performance.

Giving some Patti love...She never fails to impress!

Yes, I'm pleased by all the positive reviews for Judy. So I'm game, I guess.
...but I started thinking. I'm going up July 23rd...I'll just leave one day earlier to see The Patti before she goes to CA! Yay for not booking my flight yet! I'm happy again. Knowing me, I'll end up seeing the 2 & 8 show that day.

Wow. A few days out of town, and I miss a lot! Haha. Thanks for the movie suggestions, everyone. I already have Life Goes On, so I guess have to go with some of her smaller roles.
How about that Audra McDonald/Patti production in L.A. slated for next year? Anyone in that area? Sadly, I doubt I'll get to attend that one.

Yay for your return, Kel!
Yeah, just add that show to the long list of wonderful performances I'll miss.
Speaking of. Does anyone know how to go about contacting her management, booking agent, whatever for shows? We have so many outstanding venues here. We need some Patti in Knoxville!
I've wondered about her booking agent myself. How does that work? Does a venue contact her if they want her to perform - or does her agent call up different venues to see if they would like her to perform there.
I live in Mississippi - not too far from Memphis - and I always wondered why Patti has never performed at the Orpheum Theater. It is such beautiful house - and it would be the perfect venue for her.

I'm not sure. I was trying to look around on her website for an address, nothing.
We have fantastic venues of all sizes here. Two of which have been recently remodeled. Bring on Patti's star quality, already!
A little off-topic here, but I just wanted to add a little more Patti love! I was introduced to Patti with the Anything Goes title song. When I first heard it I had no idea who it was but I thought, Damn! That woman can sing!
My current favorite is Patti singing "Being Alive" from the Sondheim Celebration concert. Amazing! It is the most played song on my i-pod (right behind are the songs from the current revival of Sweeney)!
And I loved getting to see 22 episodes of Patti in the Life Goes On Season One DVD!

That's certainly not off-topic.
My first listening of "Being Alive" was Bernadette's. I knew I liked the song...but after hearing Patti's version, I knew I LOVED it. I adore that Sondheim concert dvd.
Patti is the best! I've seen her on Broadway twice - in Master Class and The Old Neighborhood, and I've met her once. I've never seen her sing, though. Never even in concert. I'm going to NYC in September, just to see her in Sweeney - and I got my tickets yesterday. 4th row center, baby. (They had 1st row available, but I didn't want to look up the whole time. 4th row is close enough.) I can't wait.

4th row is definitely better than 1st. When I bought mine the other day, I searched for so long, I had to keep entering the security word again. I ended up with BB-2. I didn't really want that close, but I'd sat in BB-1 before (same seat diff. side), and it was tolerable. So that versus like 13 rows back, I was pleased.

funnygirl - I would like to second chrrymn's sentiments. You definitely made the right choice. I've sat in both the first and the 4th row. I would never do the first row again, because of the next strain. I'm returning this Saturday (for my 7th time - goodness gracious!) and am returning to the 4th row. Personally, I think it's the best place I've sat in that theater.

7th? I'm jealous. But, next month I'll have show #s 6 & 7 under my belt! Only 6 with Patti, though...
And please, everyone, feel free to call me Sarah.
sweet. that's good to know! 7 times? Wow. I'm impressed.
But you know - if I didn't live 1203 miles from the Eugene O'Neill Theatre (yes, I actually checked the driving directions to see how far away I really am....) I would proably have seen it that many times - if not more.
But you know - I just can't pass up an opportunity to see the Patti....even if it's just the one time. She's so worth the 1200 mile trip.
Well, I can't see Sweeney again (saw it in November and was blown away), but I am traveling from Texas to Chicago in August to see Patti in GYPSY. That was an opportunity I was NOT going to pass up!

I know that if I didn't live in NJ, I would never have seen Sweeney as much as I have. It only takes 30 minutes to get there by car, so I take full advantage of my Broadway access. Although, I don't think I've seen a show this often before. What can I say? If it's Patti, I'll be there.
Now, I am making the 800 mile (or whatever it is) trip to Chicago for Gypsy. I still can't believe I'm going. I keep glancing at my tickets just to make it seem "real." I've never had the Ravinia experience before. Having never been to Chicago either, that's all the more reason to be excited!
All y'all make me sick. Just sick.
